How many of you are using a satellite radio system in your vette and which one are you using? Is there anyone using it with the older dial radios such as the one that would be in my 74 Corvette? I am thinking about one but not really sure. Thought I would ask the question first.

I don't have a satellite radio, but I believe you wouldn't be satisfied with one using the original radio...too old tech and the speakers would be weak from age...plus they weren't the best quality to begin with. I don't know if the old style radio would even be compatible with the satellite converter.

I think the best way around it would be to buy a repro bezel already cut for a modern radio, and install a Sirius/XM radio ready stereo/CD player and upgrade your wiring and speakers. You can even get one that's Ipod ready.

You can check with a automotive stereo specialist, but I still think you wouldn't be satisfied with trying it with the original radio setup, even if it was technically feasible.

custom auto sound has repros that fit right in the opening. also have what they call the secret audio. that the radio unit is hidden away and just a face plate get velcroed on the dash. can also have a cd changer hooked up to it. this way you can leave the original radio in. as far as which satellite service to get that is personnal choice.

Don't think I'd put Satellite radio in my shark. I don't like the idea of paying to listen to the radio for any reason.  My ultimate system is going to consist of a bran-new AC-Delco 8-Track with my IPOD hooked

I've heard many bad things about the Custom Auto Sound radios. Admittedly I have no personal experience with them, but I've heard many people say they're dissatisfied with their products.

Of course, satisfied customers are generally quiet, it's the unhappy one who are loud.

i had said the same thing about paying for radio but it is funny how your mind gets changed after you have it. bought a small roady2, a cuple of years ago, on special and figured i give it a try. HOOKED. i now have it in my escalade as the radio has it in it. so many different things to listen to without interruption. i understand ipods do the same but i like the fact you don't know what's going to play next as quite a few times they played one of the songs i really liked that i "forgot" about.

The only reason I have thought about it is because I can get a blues station.Nobody plays the blues on comerical radio.Another thing.I don't know where I'd put the thing.I'm not about to go and buy a new head unit just for that.Wich brings another question.I had the place that installed my head unit replace my speakers also. They used Memphis audio.Has anybody heard of them. They do sound good and crisp nomatter how loud I paly them.No distortion what so ever.I'd recomend them, just never heard of them.
