[QUOTE=Jaws79] Thanks, Rich, but your paint has some areas (most areas) that are not cracked. Mine, on the other hand, had NO panels that weren't cracked. I'm too anal for that! It HAS to be perfect!

I guess my paint isn't all that bad..just the cracks on the fender and other places..the paint is so thin you can almost see thru it at a few spots..darn single stage paint..but at least I would have some people that have gone thru it and could talk me thru..
I hope that car they found in the weeds is not a heavy loss..to bad it wasn't sitting just a little furthur south????!! It may be a different story all together..anyone know why these cars are set out in fields and brush..forgotten..to rot..or is it stupid people with no idea..

A lot of times you get people who think something is a collectable and they think they'll get big money for it whatever condition its in. Then they park it out back and forget about it. I'd like to jack-slap those people!

That is one big MONEY PIT, unless you got a shop full of tools, spare NOS parts, interior parts, bushings, etc. Plus, your a mechanic with a lift with a lot of time on your hands!

Remember, Miki, that it is a SHOP that is restoring this car. I agree with you though. To restore a car like this would require quite a commitment!

I can almost bet that the Bird Cage is totally rusted away around the windshield. The car I originally bought to rebuild was rusted so bad that even the VIN tag was half rusted away. The Frame looked like someone had hit it with a cheese grater. Literally falling apart as I salvaged what I could( ie..Undercarrieage and fiberglass. BUT! the interior was in amazing shape, Go Figure. I took lots of pictures. The gas tank came out in two sections. I personally had to find the sad humor in it all. And started hunting additional cars that I could make a better go at it with. Still have what is left of the original hulk sitting by the shop for those little parts that escape me until I get there.......
