I've created a web site dedicated to the rare BODY IN PRIME Corvettes - those painted in primer only when shipped from the assembly plant. I am seeking stories, photos, data, etc. from previous and current owners of these cars plus anyone having any knowledge of them. Thanks. www.bodyinprimecorvettes.com

Good luck. Sounds interesting.
Aren't all red Corvettes considered primed only?

No link to C3VR?
Good luck with the site...I have run across some earlier cars that were "Spec" when at NCRS meets. I have seen one that was still as delivered...no paint(color). The bumper covers on the '73-up cars were painted, however. They had a silver metallic color on them.

Makes me want to go take alook at a car that is sitting in my town again. I looked at it a year ago because it was kinda hidden behind this dudes house and it hadn't moved for several years.
It had the top end of the motor apart but layin in a box in the passinger floorboard. It has those T Tops in the car and it is a 77. It is a metallic blue. I asked the lady of the house about the car and she told me it was her husbands and that he had bought it new. I asked if he would sell it and she said she thought he would take the damn thing to the grave...
I told her I would check back next summer and see if he had changed his mind.... from the sound of this post it looks like I better stay on schedule.....

Interesting. The first time I hear about this. Do we know more specific stats about this ? (Given that we don't have much stats to begin with, at least for C3 and earlier...)
Is it still an option available ?
Now; feedback (as you asked).
I like the clean design; colors are easy on the eyes and navigation can't be simplier. The font size is nice, but the spacing could be a little smaller between the lines.
When you have a few stories more, you will need a different navigation for cars, stories & photos; but you can decide that later based on volume. Too early to tell.
The contact info forces an Outlook Express window to pop-up on my side. I didn't even know I had Outlook Express. Keep the link if you want too, but add the email address in clear text or even better, add a page where people can directly post a message to you (with their email of course) and an upload thing so they can attach a picture or 2.
The intro is nice but could be refine. What I mean by that, is get a little more "inside" information about how can one order (or could have order) a Vette this way.
It seems the site is a little bit like a registry. If you said there were only 300 cars like that and we can guess that a few of them don't exist anymore and that a few more owner don't even know they have one; then within the intro, you could talk about the different ways to identify one.
And that brings the next point; you will probably get more feedback from people who might have seen one before than people who have one. Based on that, instead of having a site like a registry/owner site, I would have a site where people come and post about what they saw. Again, maybe an online form would (forum type of thing) where people describe what they say, where and at which date.
Finally, to get the word out, I think I've seen lists of Corvette clubs; try to find such a list and mass email them about your site.
Good luck!
I find it really interesting.
I love the story on the 77. I never knew
about the glass panel option being considered by GM on the 77. I look
forward to seeing other stories on your website. Keep up the good work!

I would be interested in how to verify if you've got one. guess I'd better take my paint #s to my local paint shop and check. I just had the wife's '78 repainted, and was told Chevy doesn't recognize that paint scheme. Some thing about "to the dealer in prime". I'd better dig deeper. aceinthehole 2007-07-28 15:37:18

The way I found out my Corvette was BODY IN PRIME was from the dealer invoice. I got a copy from GM Archives, and it cost me $50 two years ago. At that time 1977 was the oldest they could go back.

The trim tags would read "Spec" on any Corvette not built with the factory colors available at the time.Adams' Apple 2007-07-28 18:53:04
