now that i have a whole bunch of pictures, and i know that the 68 i'm looking at is matching numbers, anyone had any experience with a good shipping company? I found one that will deliver door to door from philly to minneaplis for 665, sound like a good deal??
thanks again

That doesn't sound unfair. I had a car shipped from California door to door to my home in Maryland and it cost about $800 (took far longer than contracted for with lots of excuses) and a car from Indiana shipped here in an enclosed trailer for about a grand (first class treatment all the way).

What you've been quoted sounds in the ballpark. Just make sure they have complete insurance that covers the entire value of the car with no deductible on your part. There's a lot of less than honest vehicle transporters out there. Most of the companies that do so are little more than a coordinator that subcontracts the actual transport to smaller independent haulers. Make sure they're bonded and insured and stay on ther a$$es by phone until the car is delivered. You're paying good money and expect professional treatment.

Best of luck.

If you have access to a strong pickup, rent an enclosed trailer and I'll drive out there with you to get it. Should be able to make the round trip over a long weekend. A 3rd driver would make it even easier.

$665.00 ? Great price. I paid $700 for shipping from Kansas City to Orlando, FL. Then I had to go get it, as this was their drop off point. That was another 127 miles from the coast on the east side.
I also waited 2 weeks to get it on the shipper. It was the best deal I found, and on an open car carrier. Arrived fine, and they followed up.
Enclosed door to door, all in the $1500+ range.

norsky, that is a mighty fine offer, i do have access to a pickup and an enclosed trailer, but also a open car hauler, philly is 1200 miles away, that's 2400 miles, let's say 10 miles to the gallon, that'd be 240 gallons, so about 350+ in gas. It would possibly be cheaper, but i am unsure that i have time because i am currently in school. But if time arrives, i might take you up on that offer, where is Orono? I'm 45 minutes south of the cities. Thanks

I'm just west of the Cities and pass by near you when we go down to visit mom-in-law in Red Wing. Keep me posted, the more lead time on scheduling will make it easier to plug it into both the home and work calendars.

Just another thought - have you had anyone inspect the car? There are a lot of C3VR members in the Philly area and I'm sure any one of them would be willing to go over and look the car over for you or know someone who could do a full inspection on it. Because I was buying 'sight unseen' I made passing an inspection a condition of the purchase and it was money well spent.

i would definitely be interested if anyone was willing to help me out, or knew someone that would, i'm not sure how much it would cost. The guy lives about 40 or 50 miles from Philly. ???????

I used intercity lines http://www.intercitylines.com/ when I bought my 78 Corvette Pace Car. The cost was $800 to pick up the car in Ill. (at the sellers house). to my door in E.H.T N.J. They are great. They take care of the car like it's their own. They do a lot of the transport for the Barrett Jackson auction. The classic car is transported in a 65 foot long enclosed carrier. I think the drivers said they cost around $450,000. You can read the testimonial page on that site I posted.

I used Innercity as well to ship mine from Maryland to PA. Not only were they reliable, but the very nice and man, they can sure get that HUGE truck in/out of some tight spaces!

i checked on intercity shipping, they wanted 1300, just too much, twice as much as the other place. I'm going to check into insurance, and the reliability of the other place. But thanks for the info guys.
