[QUOTE=dwright]Man that really sucks.
I've been wondering about that. I put in an order for the Year One engine, but I really think I should've waited...
Best advice from here is to NOT rush into anything now.
Do your homework and get lots of advice.
A week or two doing research will be time well spent.
I know a lot of owners are realy happy with the ZZ's.

Man...that REALLY sux!!!
You seem to be taking it well, tho...but...how is the little woman? Still breathing?
Just kiddin...
I don't know of anyone using an engine from Year One. If it's already on order, just make sure you get all the info you can on it. Warranty, specs, etc.
Good luck with it, and be sure to keep us posted on how it turns out.

I planned for the worst case scenario which in my mind was a blown engine. The year One engine has a 12 month/12k warranty Its a 350 SB, but it produces 400hp. I'll have to have a look at the specs as soon as their site comes up again.
The GM crate engine that the dealership suggested was almost $2000 more than this one.
My wife is very angry that the motor failed...

Man, that's a lot of money either way you
go. If Year One is having to order the engine and there is a five week
wait, is there a way for you to back out of the deal? To me it would be
more important to get exactly what I want even if there was a small
penalty for cancelling the order. You have put all the time and effort
into the body and paint work. The car is beautiful. Shouldn't you be
completely comfortable with your engine choice?

Scott, the engine from Year One showed up 3 days after I ordered it!
Its already been installed in the car. Some of the gauges were faulty & my wife has decided to replace them with green digital gauges.
She ordered those from Summit. They should be here by the second week in August. Our mechanic told us that some of the wiring was shorting out so we're also replacing the under hood & dash wiring with a Painless kit. I suppose that the real pain is in my bank account. The mechanic told us that after this round, the only time he expects to see us back will be for oil changes.
I'll get some new pics on Monday.

Oh... Before I forget I had a look at the old motor before a friend scarfed it up. DBP had put the flywheel on backwards & the transmission had three bolts holding it in place.

Well the Year One engine lasted approximately 600 miles before it seized.
This time the 74 died about 60 miles fron the house in York County SC. Hagerty's couldn't get their act together so we had to have a local company tow it back to the house & then tow it to the dealership on the Monday before Thanksgiving. The dealership took off the heads & discovered that #8 rod had punched through the oil pan. The engine manufacturer called the dealership & had them pull the engine. It was shipped back to them in California right before I went in the hospital for brain surgery. So far only one good thing has come out of this latest episode, I bought a pair of black Z06 seats with their tracks in like new condition from a guy on corvetteforum for $700.
They are going to be installed in Sassi sometime next week. The digital gauges really look cool in the car as well.
So let's see, car's dead... I had a tumor removed from my head, its almost Christmas. Seems like a typical year.

Hang in there Chris! Life is what you make it so make it good.
I am a brain surgery patient from 20+ ago now. (I wasn't always like this... I used to be a nice guy!
)
Don't give up and don't let them get the best of you! Sassi has come a long way from the early pics I remember seeing!
It sounds like you are lucky to have everyone working together on the engine. To me that seems rare and definately in your favor!
Have a great Holiday Season!
