Vette(s): 1970 stingray, t-top, mulsanne blue with black interior, 406 ci with 444 hp, racing suspension, hooker headers/sidepipes - SOLD :(

Alright so on top of all this bs with Breanna I've had to deal with last week...I'm trying to break in the stingray's new engine, and so to get some miles on it, I'm driving it to work every night instead of my grand prix.  I work nights doing security detail at the state military HQ, which also houses state radio, and the emergency operations (911) center.  the facility is in the middle of the city, just north of main street, next to a bunch of apartment buildings, and my job is to sit in a little shack at the gate overlooking the streets and protect the HQ from the dreaded North Dakota Bovine Coalition, the newest terrorist organization.

Anyhow I figured the corvette would be okay to park out on the street, since I'm looking out at the street all the time anyway.  Ten minutes before I got off, I went out to start the vette up and warm up the engine since I take the highway home. no later than ten minutes after that, I walked out to the vette to leave...EGG.  egg all over the driver's side of the car, dripping down onto the sidepipe, which had already cooked my breakfast for me, since the pipes were hot...all over the window, egg shells all over.  Of course, after being low on patience because of the girlfriend ordeal, the sight of this sent me spinning into a realm of pissed off I have never been in before in my life.  Luckily I use a sheet to cover my engine since the car has no hood, and though the sheet wasn't on there because the motor was running, it WAS in the car.  I wet it down and immediately wiped the goo off as best I could.

I had one suspect (a white truck had stopped at the stop sign RIGHT where the vette is parked in between the time I turned it on and the time I went back out).  while I was standing there, a similar white truck (it was hard to tell, being 6 am still) came driving down the road and parked by one of the apartment buildings.  I approached the driver, and asked him to step out of the vehicle, and got no response.  I wrote down his license plate, and twice more asked him to step out of the vehicle...on the second time, he complied.  An old guy, 50s, wearing only shorts and no shirt, who claimed it couldn't have been him, as he had just gotten home from working out of town.  So I walked back to my post, called the police, and the unit that came out took a look at my car.

While we were standing out at my car looking, we noticed another car had been hit.  The other guy that I was working with was driving his wife's car, because his talon was in the shop, and there had been another egg smashed on the hood of his wife's car.  At this point we began to suspect that whoever had vandalized our cars had been on foot, based on the splatter patterns of the egg goo on the hood of the second car...but we had no way of knowing for sure... neither him nor I saw anyone, and no other cars on the block were touched, just ours.  The officer questioned the old man, and his story checked out...he owns a farm north of town that he was working on, and he had medical documents to prove that he has to work at night...he has a condition that makes him susceptible to UV rays.  so...suspectless, we had basically done all we could.

it was an excuse to wash the stingray this morning, but honestly folks...what kind of person eggs two freakin cars...especially two cars that you KNOW belong to soldiers (both had army plates).  maybe someone was pissed up because letting my car warm up, the loud sidepipes woke em up.  but still...a) come talk to me about it, don't vandalize my sh*t...and b) why do my partner's car too?  it doesn't make sense, but if I ever find out who did it, there will be some legal action taken.

next time I drive the corvette to work, it's getting parked INSIDE the facility.

I get that crap about twice a year here at the house. Bunch of punk kids out "havin a good time". Bastards.
Got the '85 'Vette once last year, the Mercedes a couple of times this year, and the 'Burban about three weeks ago. I doubt there was any "reasoning" going on with your ordeal, just a-holes with crappy lives, that want someone else to suffer, too. Not much you can do about it, just clean the crap off and not let it get to ya.
I do hear there is a product that will absolutely keep this from happening, tho. It's called "Scatter-gun"

you know...I have been pondering this idea for quite some time.  the dual-leg stand of the M249 SAW light machine gun would be very easy to bolt onto the top of the windshield of our vehicles, provided the t-tops are off.  once that is accomplished, all one needs to do is put the car in park, stand up, and turn the safety off.

Just another sign of the times. Seems like a lot of younger folk have no respect for anything. I'm glad I was raised by parents that didn't spare the rod. Some kids just need a good beatin. If it weren't for my brides government job, I'd move some place where 20 people go and 19 of them come back.
