Vette(s): 1969 Vette, Daytona Yellow original paint and black leather interior. Only 54,589 original miles and full documentation and original window sticker. This vette comes with 350/350 4 speed, factory AC, ps,pb, AM/FM stereo and luggage rack.
I just purchased my 69 vette and I was told I need a round key to open the spare tire carrier. I do not have that key. Does anyone know where I can get one and what is involved. I have joined NCRS and I know that they need to get the tire carrier down upon inspection. Thanks

Well all I can think of is removing the lock with something or remove the latch lock bolt and then removing the lock.

Appreciate the input. Look forward to chatting and learning more about my Vette as I get more involved.

I had to cut my bolt to get it lowered. You can get replacements on ebay pretty cheap

Take the lock out of the rear storage compartment, and take it to a locksmith. They can cut a new key. It is the same key for the spare tire lock.
(unless someone has changed it)

That's if a PO hasn't changed them out in the past. I've got so many keys on my ring I look like a school janitor. One day I am going to go thrugh them all and see what does what. I have had the lock off so I know one is for that anyways.

Those tire locks aren't all that hard to get off, anyway. If you wiggle them just right, they'll come right off.(spray it down with WD40 or something, first )
As far as NCRS judging, we/they will check the keys, anyway, so you will need one for the tire lock, and the storage compartment. The same key must be used for both. The interior team will check to see if it is the "correct" key, as far as shape, and code. The exterior team will only check to see that it opens the tire lock.
