Vette(s): 1970 stingray, t-top, mulsanne blue with black interior, 406 ci with 444 hp, racing suspension, hooker headers/sidepipes - SOLD :(
so I'm giving an informative speech on the first three generations of the corvette.  The most of it will consist of body style changes, and performance changes...but for the C1s, I want to analyze the corvette as a symbol of social class, and for the C2s, and then the C3s, I want to analyze the two generations as symbols of American automotive racing.  So, for those two things...I would appreciate if anyone could point me toward some information.

How about the Corvette Museum.  Maybe Adam Boca can give you a clue, but I swore they had a historic Library of information for the publics use.

I have this dvd set at home (but I didn't pay 125$ for it... about half of that during Christmas time last year; another gift from me to myself..).

I think it is exactly what you are looking for, it is not so technical about the Corvette themselfs, but more about the American culture surrounding each eras as well as racing (until the low 70's that is...).

google always gives me the more technical information, it's harder to find stuff about social class.

For what it's worth I punched in "Chronology of Corvettes" on Google.  Took me to a site listing the very origin of the Corvette as the inspired gleam in Harley Earl's eye (September, 1951), detailed month by month(!) to December 1958 when Zora Arkus-Duntov was pegging the experimental Corvette "SS" at 183 mph around the track in Phoenix.  The chronology reflects consistent innovation in the early years of the development of the C1. Several ways to tie that into social developments of the 50's and 60's.  So, go with Google.

Look at the reference of the DVD that I pointed out earlier.  There's also a book for this one. The title is "Corvette : The fastest 50 years".

If you don't want to buy it and you still have some time ahead of you, consider going to your local library.  Mine will order anything you ask them (books and DVD)... well... almost anything... (shouldn't need explanation here).

Just bring them the full reference.
