I watched a couple of those vids....I'm-a wonderin if they didn't have the HUD in metric readout...the speed as shown doesn't really match the scenery goin by...

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.

When I was in college a local muffler shop had a 68 set up for Bonneville Salt Flats.  The driver was a friend of mine from college.  Did get it over 200 MPH before he was 21 years old.  But it was a car build for speed.

I think that was when I  first got a crush on a Corvette.  My 56 Bel Air was set up for street racing but that car was something and it was so good looking.  Even stopped it looked fast.

By the way I had my 56 up over 130 on a two lane country road.  Talking about being a stupid teenager.  A couple of years ago I got my wife's Seville up over 110 going to Phoenix from San Diego.   My 82 Corvette I do not think so.  It is my baby and besides I do not want to break it once I do get it running good and mostly my reaction time at 62 is not anyway as good as it was at 19.

Since I've gone that fast never. It's tough for me to tell but I hear what you're saying. He seemed to get from the mid 20's to 90 in a heart beat. A friend of mine has a C6, I'll see if that's an option. It would seem odd to me that "America's Sports Car" would have metric displays. Next thing you know my fathom green will be called british racing green. :o)

Had the '68 up to 130 for about 1/8 of a mile on the interstate according to the speedo; front end felt light and wheel balance was a problem.  Cruised the '80 at 85, possibly higher, but that's all the speedo would read.

Well here's my story, an I'm stickin to it. When I first got my Vette it was during mid-life crises, so I had my foot in her quite a bit thinking I was still 17. One night coming home from work late, I was  coming out of an S-curve in downtown Grand Rapids when a newer style Camero came up and started playing games. Now any of you gearheads know, we don't like to play games and for me when something like this happens a switch is clicked on in my brain and I turn into a total maniac ( wife prefers to use the term "dumba_s").Wacko So's anyhow, I just had to grab me a handfull o gears and stomp on her. Now when yer 17, who watches the speedo?Shocked Ya keep yer eyes on that little gage right next door so's she don't go too far into the red. Well, when I did finally glance over I noticed I was at 130 mph. Now let me tell ya the difference between 17 and 50. At 17 we called this fun, adrenalin buzz, wreck-less abandonment, awesome!!! Eyes straight forward hoping for more speed. Well, at 50 ya take a quick glance from side to side and notice, " that sh_ts flyin by in a hurry." So a couple things run through yer mind. #1 If I loose control, they'll be able to clean this car up with a vacuum cleaner. #2 I will die. #3 (most important), If I call my wife from jail after being busted for wreck-less driving, especially after only owning the car for 2 weeks, the Vette will be gone and again, "I will die."

So, in answer to your direct question......... 130 mph. Prolly a little more an ya axed for.............Big%20smile

Oh, an also forgot to mention. When the dude in the Camero finally caught up with me, he was pretty impressed.
"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!" Evil%20Smile
