Got to 108 once.

Funny thing is that a State Trooper lives right off the road and mentioned to me at a car show that He recognized my 64 ..then said all you Corvette guys must drive fast as I see 4-5 go by really fast ...
Did not have the heart to tell him is was me... LOL
Personally however the C2 and C3 Corvettes do tend to get scary at speeds as the front ends kind of lift and the steering gets real light...

GREENSBURG WHERE????

All yinz guys are right about getting up to speed in these 'mature' vettes. Anything above 80 and you have to be very careful...
In NJ, Kerbeck Corvette has an annual toys for tots run. Approximately 800 Corvettes stage in a rest area on the Atlantic City Expressway about 18 miles outside of Atlantic City. Around noon the NJ State Police closed down the AC Expressway east bound. At this point we have the semi legal NJ autobahn. I heard the stories in the past but didn’t believe them until I participated in 2007.
According to the Keisler Engineering web page, my big block-4.11-5 speed at 6,500 rpm in 5th should be going a lofty 202 mph. I’ve got a better chance of having children with Shania Twain than seeing 202 mph. I did get up to 4,200 in 5th which is about 130 and held it there for about 5 miles. The car had plenty more to go but I didn’t. Going that fast in a 40 year old car is just a little freaky. The link below is the high speed lunatic. Some were going as slow as 80 but it seemed most were in the 100+ range. I passed a few and I was also passed as well. Not sure I’ll do it again but it was pretty interesting. A C4 and a C5 broke down but fortunately there were no catastrophes.
