Vette(s): 1980 currently BlackRose in color soon to be a dualquad tunnel rammed electric liquid pearl blue street machine
I just got my 80 Corvette and as with every other car I own I am looking for info all over the place...the net is a vast info source and I am loving it.....but I noticed something yesterday and figured I would ask about it....My Vette has a 175 MPH speedo while I am seeing others with a 80,140,165 what the heck is that about?

I'm the best at what I do, What I do isn't very nice

Your '80 has a aftermarket/converted speedo. I believe that the "federally" mandated 85mph speedo's came out in '79 and ran through '82. '78's had 140mph, and I think that '77 and back had 165mph speedo.
(anyone, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)
My '81 still has the 85mph. Down the road I will put a 140mph unit in. 85mph is boring.

ahhhhhhh I figured as much that someone had played god with it...........still would have been cool to hear that I had one of those ultra-rare 175 MPH speedracer editions...LOL..... The R/T's speedo read 150 and the MR2 speedo reads 140...so the vette has the highest speedo...woohoo

I just changed mine it has annoyed me for 5 years having 85MPH in a V8 I got mine from Red line there phone # is 18003752310. Speak to John he is the most helpfull guy he had mine to me in Australia in 4 days you can't complain about that for service. He also does all gauges & clocks & is a lot cheaper than the vette outlets.
