Hey,

Me and my dad just bought a 76 corvette, a father and son project. THe car is in rough shape, needs new paint job cause it's lifting. There are no emblems on it eithier, I know that it should have a stingray emblem. Does anyone have two for sale that are good and cheap (I'm a high school student.)It's going to be a christmas present for him.

Let me know,

My 79 vette, has lots of TLC now ;-)

You are actually looking for "Stingray" emblems. "Sting Ray" (2 words) was used on the midyear Vettes (63 thru 67).

These emblems are actually pretty inexpensive:

$31.82 at Corvetteforum.com - http://store.yahoo.com/corvetterestoration/zip-t-314-sc.html

Good luck!

Hey Everyone!

Funny story about about my emblem...

When we bought the 74, we had to trailer it home... on the way, we heard a clunk and looked back and saw a c4 vette slowing down, we thought he was having some probs. A few minutes later, the same c4 comes speeding up, and flags us down by waving a Stingray emblem. We stop and he tells us about how he was admiring the car. Great feeling, man I love Vettes!

Anyway, whats the procedure of putting this back on?!?!

The Stingray emblem is glued on. The original adhesive is long gone. I don't know what the NCRS people think you should use, but clear silicone caulk will do the job.

I have been around a lot of body shops and I know that for the most part they use 3M's Trim and Emblem adhesive for this application. As far as NCRS, I dont know their requirement either, but the 3M adhesive is as close to factory you will find. It costs about $6.00 for a big tube.

Glenn,

Thanks a lot! I used to be a part of IMOC, International MR2 Owners Club, and they used to be a real tightly knit group as well, always helping each other out. I really loved that about the group. Unfortunately somewhere along the way we got invaded by ricers and that was the end of that. Instead of reading and talking about the love of the car, I started getting emails about how Pimped out or stickered up a car was... Fortunately, I know Vettes are one thing that the Ricers will never invade :) Still have that MR2 though, it has it's own charm.

Hmmm, that big tube will have to wait until I get the paint done on the car, which should be the next step after the rear end! You think one tube will do all the emblems on the car? Man, I can taste the fresh air already... *sigh*

I forgot to mention that if you use the caulk rather then the 3M adhesive, the emblem becomes essentially removable for those of us who would like to remove it when we wax the car.
