I just saw on MSN where a 68 vette stolen 37 years ago has been recovered and is going back to the original owner. It was close to being exported and a record check came up with the theft.

Kinda cool after 37 years, the guy get's his car back!

For those of you that have AOL, there is an article about a 1968 Vette that was stolen in New York in 1969.It was just recovered in California 37 years later. The original owner ,who happens to live in California, will be getting his car back.how cool is that. I wish I new how to copy it and post it here.Maybe one of you savvy computer guys can do that.

Apparently, it's been through a few owners that weren't aware the car had been stolen. It was blue on blue, now a different color and not running. But hey. it's probably still worth more now than he paid for it new and he never expected to see it again.

yeh , i read in in our local paper too, and because of the vinn number it got tagged by customs and the NYC police found it ib=n their archives of stolen vehicles. because the insurance policy expired he is getting the vette back but not in original shape.cool for him though!

What I read was he couldn't afford the theft insurance, so he does get the car back minus a transmission. Where could someone hide a vehicle for so long is beyond me. The article stated that it wasen't registered otherwise the flag would have gone up.
