Be careful "going to grab" the tank sticker!! It is very fragile, and glued to the tank. You may wind up pulling just a small piece off...
Looks like you have a good plan going, as far as servicing your car...a little at a time!!! Good luck!

I pulled my tank sticker off without pulling the tank, and while I got most of it, it's not easy. A few suggestions...
Have a strong flashlight or trouble light handy. Get a small mirror that you can actually get up there and use it to be able to see where your eyes can't get to. Lastly, a razor blade or a scraper (with a razor blade) will be helpful to try to separate the sticker glue from the tank. Take your time, and be patient. I can't tell you how excited I was to have my car's "birth certificate," but I'm still disappointed I didn't get more. Although, I'm not sure if more is on the tank or just disintigrated over the years...
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
i tried as hard as i can but was not able to seperate the sticker from the tank i was afriad that i would just rip it
i will try again when i have a lift available
all fluids are changed along with beltys and hoses and tune up
this week is the test drive then next sunday the detail starts
i will post the finished pictures of the car in 2 weeks
JUST HAVING FUN and nice to see this forum is very friendly

You can get a copy of the build sheet from the National Corvette Museum.
Then you can leave the original on the tank.
