Vette(s): 1976 Stingray matching numbers. Stock 350 rebuilt, comp cam, roller rockers, push rods, 2.02 valves, +.30 flat tops, frontend & suspension rebuilt Dec 08. Interior from firewall 90% July. New exhaust, Collector plates, Paint will have to wait...& wait.
Has anyone got experience with the stock luggage rack T Top tie downs and brackets? I have been thinking about buying a set for my 76 but not sure if they are worth it or not, they seem to be a little costly and look flimsy? It would be handy when travelling though to just put the tops on the back. Thanks for the input.
Off for Bend only one week away

Hi Eric, make sure your rack has the roll pins to hold the brackets and strap! Corvette Central was making them and selling for 200.00, I think. We use ours all the time with no problems. Remember when traveling, you have to remove to fill up with gas! See you in Bend. Dick

Yes, I have the 8 bolts and roll pins on my luggage rack so should be fine. Not enough time to order one now for the trip down to Bend (may have to order later) does anyone know of a good candy store between Bellingham and Bend, need a couple other little things as well.
Thanks for the help Dick, yes see you in Bend.

Yeah...your luggage rack has to have the pins on the rails for the t-top brackets to work, and safely secure the tops. I've seen cars going down the road at quite a clip with the tops strapped on the rack with no problems. Several of the members here can attest to that! And you do have to loosen/remove them to put fuel in...dangit!

Where did you see t-top rack at Corvette Central. I sure would like to one. I must be searching wrong or something because I sure cannot locate them. Can anyone provide a part number so a dummy like me can find it.

CC prolly has the luggage racks with the proper pins for the t-top carrier, but I haven't seen anyone advertising the actual brackets needed to complete the deal. I see them on flea-bay every now and then, but you'll need a second mortgage to buy them...
Btw...the '78-up cars use a totally different set-up for the t-top carriers. The brackets actually bolt to the body behind the back window. There are several members here with those set-ups, and they are just as hard to find(complete) as the earlier stuff.

Thanks for the info, I found one on Zip as well about the same price. Will order if I do not find one in Seattle (Pacific Corvette) any other places to shop at that may be good? Thanks again.
