Last week when my7T1 and I were traveling to Ky came an oppertunity to use the jack. I have not had my jack out except to clean up the storage area about 10 years ago. Well, when Terry had is breakdown, front spindel), and we tried to jack up the left front tire his jack was real hard to get to work. I pulled out mine and it was even worse. I always use my floor jack at home and never thought about what would happen if I needed to use it on the road somewhere. Needless to say I have it working now and just wanted to give you guys something to think about. Redwingvette2006-10-21 08:45:56

When DNV broke down with the broken u-joint we used his to see the problem. When you are used to an aluminum floor jack, they SUCK.

Ya'll be carefull working with the factory style jacks...they ain't too dependable. It's best to get one of them smaller hydraulic jacks to take on road trips...

I used mine last year to get the car up on jacks, one corner at a time. Now I have a Sears floor jack that should make the job easier.
I also want to check my spare tire this winter. I've never seen it.

I'm with Joel on this one.

I didnt trust mine and I didn't trust the spare either.

So I decided to not even bother and get some weight off of the car; took the spare tire (and carrier) out and renewed my AAA membership to "Plus".  Peace of mind for which ever car I'm into; don't even have to be my car.

Oh, you guys are whiney!! LOLLOL  I had a blow out on the freeway goin' about 65 - 70 and saw this rubber flyin' up and hit my windshield.  I thought, hummmm.....that guy in front of me had a blow out.  NOT!  Then I realized it was me, so I pull over. CryCry  It was about 90 something degrees out. Dead  I start pokin' around looking for a jack.  Waaa....Laaa!  I found it in the cubby hole.  Ok, now how does this darn thang werk....?  Figured it out, got down on my hands and knees lookin' under the musturd car for a good spot to put that jack and crank her up.  I hadn't even seen the jack before.  I did it!!!Big%20smile  Then, I went to the back to get the spare out.  Just had a new spare put in there (whew!).  Started to get the lug nuts off and some nice guy pulls over to help.  I didn't need no help, but I let him get the rest of the lug nuts off and put the spare on.Clown Evil%20Smile  Not too bad for a TEXAS lady, huh? Wink  ......And I have AAA too.

Good point that cha' made!  Everyone should check out their jacks and get a good spare tire! Thumbs%20Up

Great topic, Weather is just getting cool enough down here to enjoy the ride. Last week take out the 80 and give it a pretty good workout on the interstate. Next day grab the wife and decide to take ride out towards the everglades. Get a mile from home and blew the sidewall out of one of the front. Thank god for AAA. I get the spare out and I swear its never been on the ground. Cobwebs dirt and rust. AAA kid arrives and Breaks his compressor inflating the spare gets the car up with a nice aluminum jack and breaks it letting the car back down. Brings me to my winter project
