Hank51, I do the same all the time and get those clueless looks (especially C5's). I'm thinking about putting the C3VR sticker on my Explorer instead.
On a 30 minutes ride this weekend, got waved back from 2 C3, 1 C4 and 0 out of 5 C5. One of them even cut me off (and he really didn't have too) right before the red light, crank the radio to "stupid loud" and rinced his engine. At that point, I just laughed at him !

Like Lowbrowser said; it's either that they don't know about the wave, or still making big payments on it; so obviously frustrated.
I think 74-454 figured it out! The C5 folks secretly wish they had a "paid for" C3 that gets a lot more attention than their $750 per month Vette that just blends in with the others. It's seldom I get waves from C4-C5's. Think they're envious?

Got got home, 2 C4 waves 5 C5 snubs no C3's in the city today. Met my
neighbor with a black C4 (we just moved last month), he gave me the
peace sign before I could react (I keep it in the Garage, so he didn't know
I was a neighbor)! pulled over and talked Vettes. The guy across the street
has a '75, this neighborhood is represented! Wave on!

My son and I passed a yellow 78 while in the yellow 71 Saturday. We did the big wave and got the "two fingers off the top of the steering wheel" wave but I think that still counts.

See Rogue about that Save The Wave Smiley! Nice! This site really needs it since we're all about STW.
I got a "jumping around in the seat" wave from a lady in a C6 yesterday evening...
