Well the dreaded zoning letter from the city came in December saying I was in violation with my canopy over the corvette. (they had pics) It has been over it for a year and a half. I went down to city hall to try and work something out but no go. A zoning appeal costs $250.00
.

While I was there the officer asked if the car was licensed, insured and in running condition. I said yes to 2 out of 3. No cigar, you must have all 3 or it is BLIGHT. I almost fainted from hearing those blasphemous words talked about my corvette.
Blight... how could you say such a thing.

Sooo I went to the state and ordered a new custom plate since the old one expired. Old plate: STYLIN80.
New plate: DRCOOOL
whats even better?? Total cost came to $39.00.

So the saga continues. I will keep working on it and see how far I get this year. Ideally the interior, doors and bumpers need to be reassembled and put on, then all it needs is tuning and paint.

Why they be hatin'. Can't a man work on his dream in peace? You know, it is probably one of your neighbors who complained. There's one in every crowd! Don't let it get you down! In Maryland, I beleive that a car only needs tags and insurance if its in the STREET, not in your yard. Hope it all works out!

With all the towns and states crying about not having any money they still seem to have enough people on the payroll to go out and bust some poor guys nads that's just trying to restore some old car as he gets the time and money. They got nothing better to do?
Plenty of drunks and druggies out there driving while under suspension.
Move to Maine. If you don't have something that's unregistered or aint been running in a while in your yard, then you just aint a local.

Good thing they don't come around my house. I have a horse trailer without a tag or title.
My gransons gocart does not have a tag.

And my Vet has no tag, no insurence and the title is not in my name yet, BUT I can screem down the road and they can't catch me!

It may not have been a neighbor, actually. I had a go around with the county out here. What started it was they had a fire in the neighborhood, caused code enforcement to drive around looking for violations. The guy figured i meant it when i told him that he better not see I have both my Vettes not running. I tried logic, that one was broken down, getting repaired and the other a project. Anyways, got away with it, but just saying that i did find out code enforcement (the guys who got ya) does go around looking for trouble (puts money in the coffers)

I have a couple of thoughts.... welll maybe more buther goes... (don't hate me)
It could be a neighbor
it could be someone on the zoning board
it could be a census taker
heck it could be someone pissed off because they were told to move / clean up their stuff
Now.... as a homeowner I respect my neighbors but neither they nor I have a right to violate the ordinances.
And.... I'm glad because I have worked hard to make my home a nice and eye appealing place. Likewise my neighbors do too.
And I'm not in any way indicating that your place is anything less Dennis!
One thing you might do Dennis is read the ordinaces. They are for the most part very general. In saying that it may be such a thing that your your canopy needs to be inclosed.
A friend of mine had a similar experience. In order to comply he tarped the 4 sides of the canopy and met compliance.
In his case it was his neighbors who complained. after enclosing the area (which hid his IH tractor) they were okay with him.
That being said look for the positive and move full speed ahead. 0-120 Stingray Style.....

It does'nt matter who called and I understand that ordinances need to be followed so I just took it down with no hard feelings anywhere. It was nice to have it up in the hot summer. I don't get too excited about things anymore. At least some major work was done in the shade.
Everything is good in town again.

I had the same problem when I was working on my 54 truck I would push the truck to different points on the driveway and street to make it look like it ran. They will not come to your house to make you start it up.
