In the ol' money pit....Cruisin' down the road, listening to Aerosmith having a great ol' time, enjoying the sunshine. Still too cold for the T-Tops to be off but it's some of the most pleasant weather we've had ina LONG time. I'm doing about, well just say I was exceeding the speed limit a little bit, and all of a sudden I notice the car behind me with the wippers on.  WTF ?  About the time that thought was gone, the temp started rising and the reason for the guy behind me using the wipers became apparent. I blew one of the two water pump gaskets. Not a big deal, if I had been at home, but I was out on a back country road in the middle of the not yet planted corn fields near Trenton IL.  Okay... now what. Well, I walked up to a farm house and borrowed a wrench to tighten up the bolt a bit and also got some water to tide me over so I could get back to the Chevy dealer I blew by 3 miles prior. I limped into the dealership and they said they had the parts but they wouldn't be able to work on it until monday.  Trenton is a LONG walk home so.... they offered me another option. They would lend me a few wrenches and I could fix it myself. Very cool because usually dealerships don't do that.

Well an hour or so and 2 Gallons of coolant later, I was on the way again.  I got to make some new friends at a family owned dealership (all the sons work in the service department) and got to enjoy a little more of the sunshine while turning the wrenches (45 degrees BTW).  Man ,you gotta love small town America.

I also got to see a (78?) 25th anniversary 'vette sitting in the showroom. Only has 18 original miles on it and the sticker is still in the window. Bet that's worth a bit of cash.

Anyway, thought I'd share my adventure.  Spring is in the air, many more to come.

Cool story.....If it were my luck, I'd be callin' AAA, something really bad broke, and hate'n life all at the same time. At least you could work on it.....the new stuff is so complicated you throw in the towel very quickly. Gotta love the 35 Y/O stuff........

Looks like that's the way I'm headed...Rear end is all new... Now I've started from the front end. Fan Clutch, Water pump...I hope that doesn't mean the timing chain is next....

It's gonna be 61 degrees and sunny here in St Louis today. Should be warm when I get off work at 2:00 pm.  I'm goin' driving... !
