O.k I have a chance to pick up a 1969 Vette on a scale 1-5 its a 2 1/2 for 9000.00. It has the 350/300 with all of the options. Right now I Owen a 81 four speed in good shape. What should I do? HELP

Keep the 81 but buy the 69. I like spending your money.

The thing is I am still paying off the 81. If I pick up the 69 I would have to sell. For long term resell value the 69 makes more sense to me. I could put in ten thousand into the 69 and get that back, if I did that with the 81 I would never get that back out of it.

Sell the 81 and go for the chrome bumpers...........I don't think you'll go wrong. Bumper cars are skyrocketing. I know I'll hear about this, but I don't think an 81 will ever have the value of a 69...Just my 2 cents...

I would agree the 69 will have more value in the long run.  But it really comes down to which one you like better, and which one you would rather drive.

Get the 69, it is more valuable and I agree the chrome bumpers are great looking. You can get another 81 anytime later if you really love it. then you would have one early c3 and one late c3 with the fastback. but I'd sell my 76 for a 69 for sure.

Afraid I've gotta go with the 69.  Chrome bumpers rule!

True.....but does the '69 need $10,000 worth of work? It adds up pretty quick once you get started fixing even the little, piddly stuff. If you want a car to keep for yourself, then the amount of cash really won't matter.
I'll probably never be able to sell my '74 for what I have in it now, but then, I don't ever plan on selling it. If I run across another one that I like, and can afford to buy, I'll add it to my collection. Go with whichever car gives you the warm fuzzies!

What Adams Apple has said is true. I believe I have way too much money in mine also. But, I do plan on keeping the car for a long time. Go drive the bumper car and see what you think of it before you commit. The bumper cars usually have way less convenience and comfort than your 81. You can make the 69 into anything you would like it to be.

Well is the 81 a daily driver? And if so would it be true for the 69? Would you want to drive that every day? Are you thinking of upgrading the suspension or other parts on the 81 (less impact price wise) if you do that to the 69 the price falls. If you are thinking of upgrading the 81 it would be a good guess that the 69 would please you less with ride as its an older car. Id stick with the 81 build it how u want it dont worry about the resale and later on if you want get a 69 project build it for resale potential and enjoy riding in the 81 everyday. I had to put in new side and rear blinkers and a host of other stuff in my 75 it is not exactly great for a US resale potential but it will be fun as hell driving it here in japan.
