I had 80% of the dash and all of the console out last year and my '69 does not have this turnbuckle. Ed didn't mention what year his C3 is but I suspect that the early ones probably don't have this.

the adjustment for the cable on earlier c3's is on the right side of the dash. just follow the cable you can;t miss it. just a small clamp holding the cable. mine wasen't set correctly either

The General placed a shut off valve in one of the heater hoses but - duh - it only works when you turn the A/C on . So you have heat coming in through the heater core ALL the time - even with the heat off.

Go to your local auto parts store and purchase a 3/4" heater shut off valve and install it in you heater hose. I painted mine black and installed it in an obscure area where it is not easy to see. It greatly reduces the cockpit temperature when I shut the valve.
