Is there any way of tracing previous owners of our beloved Vettes so that we can gather more history and info? I have a 75 Vette with some history but would like to know more.

I contacted GM archives? but they couldnt help.

 

With some states you can pay a fee to the DMV for a past title search for a history, but that's just some states. Beyond that, about all you can hope for is the last owner...did he save receipts, titlework, etc.

I doubt if there's much more you can do.

My husband has a 1960 vette and I have a 1970, or we have both.  We purchased the 1960 3 years ago and he has since found 6 owners in the past 10 years and is now at a stand still.  The guy who owned my 1970 bought the car in 1978 and does not remember the name of the previous owner so I am at a stand still as well.  You can go on the DMV website for any state and it will tell you how to submit for previous owners and titles for a small fee, usually only a few bucks.  The problem is that after 10 years the information is purged and they do not keep it available.  And some states are non title states for cars over a certain age.  If you have any idea at all where the car was last registered start with that state and see what you can find.  Good luck.
