Hello everyone! I have been away for a looooooong time! Mainly because my '77 custom has not been touched due to money and school issues. I had moved to az in an apartment for 14 months too. However, some good news has arrived! I currently own a 2001 mustang gt premium v8 coupe. It has the 4.6l/281... SOHC sbf. It has some engine and suspension mods. To a person who appreciates vehicles and isn't a deal scrounger, its worth 10k. I can't seem to sell it. No one wants it, its like owning a crossfire c3 or an ugly abused c4 apparently. Even though its truly an amazing ride. I met a guy on craigslist who is willing to trade a white/black un molested all original '76, he claims the only issue with it is if the car its for more than a week, the battery drains and dies. He claims its a common older chevy alternator issues. I could see that if the windings arr bad. But in an older vehicle im assuming the issue lies more with a ground problem. Is there something I dont know about this particular year? Also any help with a 1976 quirky list or things to look for. Like on my 77 the bladder gas tank one year not made issue. Same thing with the cruise control diaphragm, this 77 has a charcoal canister. .. you know weird stuff... any help would be appreciated! Do you think thr trwde is worth it? The mustang is my daily, I dont drive it allll the time. And I cant get classic auto insurance until im 30 now due to a bs accident. I was going to trade and find a crummy old accord or civic or volvo...

Let see....you can't sell the Ford, but you probably could sell the Vette.   Hmmmmm...

Can any1 help with this? I was hoping norsky or ken would chime in. I think he had a '76 if I completed the trade id keep the vette.. n buy a craptastic daily like a 1500$ volvo

As far as trade value or worth, if it's worth it to you then it's a good deal.  I would do the trade because I'm partial to corvettes but I can't say if it's worth it without seeing and driving both cars.  Mods and upgrades can decrease value as well as increase value.  Sorry I can't help on specific quirks with a 77 vette.  However, it is almost 40 and I know when I turned 40 I developed lot's of "quirks".

If the mustang will sell for $10k, a 76 for that value should need limited cosmetic work only if anything. If it were me, I would first sell the mustang and then take that cash, plus what want to spend on a daily driver, and look for the best C4 your funds will allow. You have an unfinished 37 year old 77, don't know why you would buy a 38 year old 76 for a daily driver? Maybe just keep the mustang and work on the 77.

I think this means he can't seem to sell the Mustang. 

But he can trade for an "unmolested" 76 with an electrical problem.  Fix the electrical problem and I think he could sell the 76 and buy a driver whatever and work on his 77.  Hellooooo...

im not by far loyal to any brand or model. I love all cars, even datsuns. but the mustang is a bit of a pain, n I do love me some vette action. But, honestly.. ppl think mustangs are a dime a dozen. Its worth easy 10. But im getting offers of 1200-3200. Kinda sad. I figured I could trade the mustang for a nice 76 vette. Since I love them soo much, use that to get around when I need to. We have another car, and I use my moms car as well. And then I can spend like 1500 later on with a nice volvo like I used to have, or maybe some otherr chevy or caddy. Yes, im greedy with my classics. If I could buy em all, I would. My '77 I still need about 10k to finish. I already have over 60 in it. A few members are still waiting to see my custom front end. Only about 10 people have seen it.

Since I have a '76 I can respond on your questions about quirks for that year.  Not many.  Steering wheel is the quirkiest part - Vega wheel and there are NO replacements that fit without modifications to the column.  It does seem fairly easy to change some parts (or the whole column) so you can install an earlier OR later wheel, but I have not done so (Vega wheel doesn't bother me, no one knows that that wheel was used in a Vega anymore).  There were not a lot of firsts (except first for no convertible and I think a steel floor), but some lasts.  Like last year of old style radios and floor mounted dimmer switch.  Last year they called it a stingray until 2014.  Last year of the old style A6 A/C compressor.  And one other quirk of the '76, L-48 (non-California): no smog pump.  As far as I know it's the only year in the 70's like that.  Most people just take them off, but on this model you're legal in not having one.  I'm sure there are some other anomalies but can't think of them right now.  

Keep the "stang".  KBB shows wholesale with 75,000 miles?... at $5,853 in good condition.  $7,500 for a premium example.
