Has anyone ever towed anything with their Corvette? After much casual looking and watching on e-bay, I found and purchased a C3 towing bar (I think I got a really great deal - under $60 with shipping!). I have seen only 3 of these installed.
Having taken more than one 1,000+ mile trip in my convertible, I know that there is very little storage space in my C3 - especially with the top down.
My thoughts have always been to purchase a wrecked C3 vert (74 or 75) and cut the back half off for a trailer (I've seen one of these). However, being a little more realistic, I have been looking today and found a good number of trailers designed for motorcycles that can also be used with cars.
Imagine having my cake and eating it too! Travelling in my Corvette with the top down and still being able to have clothes and "stuff" too! Wow.
I can still dream that maybe I could customize one of these trailers to somewhat look like the rear end of a C3, but even if not, they don't look so bad as is.
So, has anyone ever done this, or known anyone who has?
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

To be honest I don't think I'd like having something bouncing around behind either Vette.
Have a luggage rack on "The Toy" that has been used several times. Use a dry bag from the camping gear stash to put things in and lash that to the rack. The only down side is the bag has to be taken off the rack to put fuel in the car.
"The Beast" did well on the 2007 trek to Carson City. But then a coupe generally has more storage space than a drop-top.
On the way back from the Tail-of-the-Dragon in '06 a bike with a neat trailer pulled into the scenic lookout spot we were all at. The trailer was a scaled down Vette on a trailer. The Vette was painted to match the bike and it looked pretty neat.

There was a couple at the Corvette Museum a few years back that had a small tear drop trailer towed by thier '65 Vette. I also saw a Vette at a campground once with a C2 and was pulling a small travel trailer, had to be around 3K lbs. He said he never has any issues with it. I'm sure you would not have a problem with a small trailer. Be carefull with the ones for motorcyles, they have a very narrow track and bounce around a lot. I'm sure the wife would love having the room!

I hadn't thought about the narrow track causing bounce as you and Jim mentioned. I don't think I'd be too thrilled about that.
Regardless, I don't see having one before Mystic. but it would be nice!

Hey Marshall, I have a better idea and a simpler solution! Why don't you have Candi drive the
KIA-KIA-KIA while you sit in the convertible on the trailer-smiling and waving at every-
one and writing down all the "quotes" that you can remember!!!!!

Be carefull with speeds with trailers with small wheels. another option for space. I have been using the spare tire carrier, I purchased a Christmas reeth storage container (fits perfectly) I carry a 12v compresure and auto Towing

Some where out there some one makes vette trailers to match your car. Saw it in one of the vette magazines. Sorry I don't remember which.

I've seen a couple of 'hommade' trailers actually made from a C3, and some like Norsky mentioned that look like a C5 or C6, but I haven't been able to find any manufactured trailers that look like a C3.
As for having Candi and I drive separately, she still claims that she likes spending time with me. I think she's waiting for me to slip and say something worthy of writing down!

Back in '78 and '79, I towed my 16 foot Glastron boat with my '78 SA Vette to the lake about once or twice a week. Towed it just fine. In '80 I had to replace my rear axle universal joints. Hmmm...
It actually did tow just fine though.

I remember seeing something about C3 trailers from the Pull Toy Co. I found an old article about them and the guy that was going to start a company to build them. Couldn't find anything recent about the company, so guess it never caught on. Check it out here:
