I bought those chrome ones from one of the catalogs for my 82. They look real nice and it was just 3 screws if I ever wanted to go back stock. Well today I pull one off and taped all the leading edges off and spray painted them with simi flat black and pulld off the tape. Man they look sweet, just the right amount of chrome and black.

I took some pics and they really don't show anything., but I'm not a picture taker.Just picture the stock black ones and picture the leading edges chrome and all the rest black.Very suddle.I liked the look of the chrome but after awhile It got to be too much chorme because it was ALL chrome so I just did the black on all but the edge. It's all in the details.Sometimes less is more

We are getting ready to paint 2 seatbacks for rootbeer car . I am worried Jimmy B. will see the cat and paint that tooo.

Man I'm sorry,I can't remember what cat. I ordered from but it was one of the main ones.I beleive they are for 80-82 only.74's don't have anything there do they. When I take mine off the opening looks a lot like a 74 but it has those speed clips pushed in place to accept the screws,

I put the chrome louvers on my 82 some time back and like them. Painting all but the leading edges sounds interesting though. Got mine from Riks, they look good on any vette but really show off on dark colors. www.riksvet.com

I was just looking at them the other day and thought ,They still look nice but I think they would look better with less chrome. IMO they look like GM should have done this in the first place but then I wouldn't have anything to do!!!!
Thanks for the info. You are right. Only for 80-82. Guess no trim available for the gills of my 74....steve
