Otay, ya'll...the newest addition to the C3VR "Research" section has been completed. We have added the "C3 Corvette Build Dates" to the information available here, so if you're trying to determine the "Birthday" of your '68-'82, Corvette, just go to the "Research" button at the tops of the pages, and click on the "C3 Corvette Build Dates" button. How simple is that!

Well, easier said than done. Am I just dense, or what? I went to the L81 Registry site and didn't find it. And even with this new info I'm still in the dark

. If I may,... this is how my trim tag looks exactly;

8 08C 105622

L81 39L 39U E

CHEVROLET

Would anyone be so kind as to help me understand this. It doesn't quite match the example given.

Take another look at your tag there, Jimmy....you shure it's not B 08??(Aug. '81)

Also, if you still have the blue certification sticker on the door, it will give the month/year of assembly...if it's still readable.

Yes Joel,

that was infact a "B 08C", I seem to get conflicting info on this thing. The door sticker clearly says 09/81 and my vin #1G1AY8763B5105622 (if I'm reading it right) claims it's a Bowling Green car and I guess the exact day it was assembled is not possible to determine

........

VIN 05622 would have been built(completed) in Sept, '81. I can check on that and get the exact date...as soon as I find my Birthday Book.
The car could have had the trim tag installed, and then either sat on the line for a holiday/week-end, parts shortage, or it may have had to go back thru the body shop for paint issues. This would explain the two different months on the door, and the trim tag. The trim tag is installed BEFORE the paint, and the door sticker is applied on final assembly.
Put it this way...the car was painted the 3rd week in Aug. B08=Aug. The "C" represents the week of the month, A = 1st week, B = 2nd week, etc.
Your car just took longer to complete for some reason. Perhaps they wanted to make sure it was perfect, since they knew you would own it someday...

OK, Stop it. Your makin' me misty here (I get that way alot these days). Joel, I'm sorry. I never meant for any one to sacrifice any large portion of their life to attain this kind of info for me, you work too hard in our behalf already, but thank you very much for all your efforts. There is obviously a trick to this known by only a special few (technical education I'm sure). I'd like to save any favors you might grant me in the future for more important stuff, like,... my tranny transplant

I'm trying to get the info set up so it is easier to understand, and will add whatever explanations needed to make it that way.
