I 23 = June 23, 1975, the body build date of your car.This is the point that the car has passed the paint line, and is painted, but has nothing else on it. It takes anouther full day or so, depending on weekends and holidays, to complete the car. June 23rd was a Monday, so your car was probably rolled out Tuesday, or Wednsday.
The last 5 digits of the vin = the build sequence #, meaning yours was the 23,44th 'Vette built for the 1975 year model, out of 38,465 total, for 1975. As you can see, yours was a late build car.
You list an "I", or "1", before the build sequence #, but it should be a "4". Check it again. This is just a 'check' #, and has no real meaning, as this position was a "4" from 1973 'till 1978. Hope this helps!
Actually, this is wrong!! Your car's vin should be between 32,304, and 32,499. The "4" before the vin is still correct, but the "1" or "I" should be an "S" indicating the St. Louis plant, where the car was assembled.
SO... Your vin should look like this...
1Z67J5S4*****
1Z =Chev. Corvette
67 =convertible, 37=coupe
J =base 350 T= L82
5 =Last digit of year model
4 = nothing
then the last #'s = consecutive sequence #
Check your vin carefully, and see if it jives with the build date on the trim tag.Adams' Apple 38521.8019328704
