I am trying to decode my car. I deccoded the Vin# however did they put any type vin or trim plate mumbers on the car for the options. Also I know the number of corvettes that were made in 1975,is there any way to narrow it down to the order a convrtible was made vs coupes? ( I not looking for the build sheet info, maybe I will come across it someday.)

On the driver's front door jamb you should see the body build tag. It will have a coded date that the body was assembled along with the paint and interior codes.
'The Corvette Black Book' along with a bunch of others will give you some of the general numbers you're looking for. You can also find some basic info on the 'Tools' menu tab/page by clicking on the C3 Statisitcs link and then clicking on the model year 1975.

VIN will have a character for the original engine, but there will not be any other codes for options anywhere on the car. You will need a copy of the build sheet, dealer invoice, or the original window sticker to determine the options for your car.
There was no specifc order for building a coupe or a convertible. As orders for new Corvettes were received at St. Louis (coupe or convertible), VINs were assigned on paper and the car was scheduled for assembly.

Have you looked for a build sheet
?

It will give you every option on the car. I goy mine in tact off of the top of the gas tank and then scanned it for preservation as it was quite brittle....

Good luck with the hunt. Do you know the previous owner(s)? Your best bet for original documentation would be from a previous owner.
The tank sticker might still be on your car, but what's there may or may not be legible. Tank stickers were never meant to be permanent vehicle documents.
Copies of build sheets have been found tucked in the wiring behind the tach/speedo; tucked in the wiring behind the center cluster; behind either kick panel; tucked in the springs under a seat; and under the carpet in the rear storage area.

No I don't know who the previous owmer was .I brought the car from a dealer in NJ. It had a PA title with a PA dealer name on it.When I called the dealer, they told me that they didn't have anything on the car. my next step is to try to do a PA title search.
