Vette(s): White 1975 L48 Stingray 129,000 Miles, daily driver.
Ok, so being brave...and foolish. I took my Vette on a road trip to Upstate NY, from Southern Maryland. My parents drove their car in convoy on the way up, and I actually even let my dad drive the Vette for a while
I got to drive in the air-conditioned plushness of a 2001 Camry tho, and it was a nice change, not my first pick of vehicle, but more comfortable after 3 hrs on the road than the Vette. Went to a cool airshow with a bunch of very early planes(10's, 20's and 30's..Glenn might remember them from his youth). Anyway, entered my Vette in a Car show up there in Red Hook NY(wherever that is exactly) and didn't win anything but hung out with a couple other Vette owners and learned a bunch about my car. Which is very good, still need to get it running perfectly, but it was a great experience. Sunday evening's drive home to go to work Monday morning became quite grueling after about 5 hours when my headlights decided that "Bright" was the only way to go, and they stuck there. So for the last 80-100 miles I blinded people, no Vettes which was good in a sense. Switch is still busted, no clue how to fix it either, so the White Witch is garaged at night until I can fix that up and with a couple 100+ days in a row here in MD she'll be garaged during the day as well. Thank god for Air Conditioning
. Saw a Calloway and a Lingenfelter C4 on the way home which was kinda neat, didn't think I'd ever see them on the road
. My Vette had no mechanical problems in approx 750miles(total) and nor with the 6.5 hour drive at 65-70mph... Makes me very happy to know this. Just figured I'd share.

Hey - Rhinebeck is a quick 45 minutes from me. If you go to the airshow next year let us all know & maybe we could make a gathering out of it. Glad to hear you had no mechanical problems other than headlights. If anyone ever does have trouble on a trip up this way (I-84 at the NY/CT border), consider me a refuge to any C3VR member. (At least you'll find a phone, a beer, and perhaps a guest bedroom if you have really big problems!) - Joe

I took I-87 down the other side of te river and into Jersey, definatly sounds like a cool gathering, but I suspect that I'm not the only one that is a haul and a half from there, tho one of those beers would go over great right about now! =)
Lets see if we can organize something! They have airshows every weekend. Ohh! another survey! lol
