Does anybody know of a source for a T-Top Storage Rack?  I would like to take the T-Tops off and leave them in my garage but the storage bags that come with the car are not good for that.  I would like something with wheels and not permanently mounted to the wall.  I don't have and don't want a luggage rack.

Alternately has anybody tried the nylon storage "suitcase" like storage cases sold by a couple of aftermarket parts places.  They look like they might work for this purpose.

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
I have the storage suite case. It works but I would not want to use the handles in a long term storage situation.

Thanks guys for the information.  Seems like nobody makes a portable rack.  I am afraid of the suitcase style because my t-tops are glass and very heavy.  They are just not easy to handle plus I worry about scratching them.  Big Al could you post a picture of your home-made rack.  It sounds exactly like what I am looking for.  Maybe I can jury-rig something like it.

Thanks,

Herb

Herb. I sold it so no pic . Go to harbor freight ( 2 in Columbus area) They sell wooden movers dollies Wooden ones come in two sizes I used the larger one $ 16. At Home Depot , lowes or hardware store pick up 12 feet of PVC piping and screw flanges ( they look like the pole hangers in your closet) 6 Take the dolly and attaché. A2 ft long pone at each corner. Then on the short side , attach a pole between the two end poles Think of the panels as slices of bread in a toaster I drilled holes for the pipe to set into dolly and secured with the flanges. ,they I took foam pipe insulation an put in around The 6 pipes ( just to protect the tops) Hope this helps Al

Al -  That gives me a pretty good idea of what you did.  Not exactly sure what the pole flanges are but I will see if I can figure it out.  How did you push the thing around?  Use the upright pipes kinds like handles?

Herb. Flanges look like the round rod hangers used on the wooden hanger pole in your closet Like a top hat Where the pipe fits down inthru the top of the hat and the brim in attached to the dolly with screws So it looks like. _|. L. Pipe would fit down thru the fitting. Hope this helps Al

Guys - Thanks for the feedback.  Now I know what I am looking for and how to build this thing.  It should be exactly what I want when I am done.  I checked out Harbor Freight - they want $12 for the dolly and another $10 for a swivel handle to move it around.  Pretty cheap.

One more question, or maybe I missed it, how do you attached the PVC pipe to the flange?

Herb
