Glenn, I dont have IM on my work PC or I would ask you this question there. But then again, what better place for more people to learn things. How can I tell if my Hooker Headers are tuned? I just replaces the gaskets between the headers and the Heads. You asked if I tried the WD40 and scotchbrite. I havent yet, only because I dont have WD40. I will have to get some this week.

Rick,
If those actually are Hooker pipes and you have matching headers, then they are "tuned". I don't know af any way to actually tell if they are even Hooker pipes but they sure look like them. I just copied you pic to my PC and will try to resize for you. I will e-mail if I have any success.

Glenn, I believe the headers have Hooker stamped in them. I'm not sure, but I know the word Hooker is stamped somewhere on the headers. That may account for some of the response I get from the gas pedal. |smile| I drove the Vette to work today. What a great feeling.

Hi
Just for my info, what do you mean with tuned ?
And yes, if they are HOOKERS, the word HOOKER will be stamped on the headers near to the pipe ( collector part ).
I agree, they do look like HOOKERS.
Gunther

I know that Hooker is stamped on them, but I dont exactly remember where. I will make it a point to check. I have too many projects going on right now to give the Vette the attention that it needs and deserves.

Can anyone tell me where to get a new set of Hooker side pipes and headers at a reasonable price? Mine are getting a bit dull.
Thanks

I would love to find a new set of side pipes for my Hookers. You may want to try WD40 and a scotch pad. I havent had the chance to buy the WD40 yet, but a fellow member of this site told me to try it. (Make sure in a spot where you cant see it first). If you find them let me know, and I will do the same.

Mako,
I have heard people getting a good price for the hooker headers and side pipes when they ordered them directly from Jet Hot. www.jet-hot.com I'm pretty sure they said they got the sidepipes from them too. You may have to call them. I've seen them in the Ecklers catalog too, but I'm sure you can find them cheaper elsewhere.

Hey thanks, for the tip. Someone emailed me with the name of a company called www.spiralturbobaffles.com. I checked out the site and they make all kinds of sidepipes and describe what they replace, but they dont mention Hooker Headers. They are around $300.00. Not a bad price for replacement sidepipes.

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
I'd kinda like sidepipes too, but it wouldn't pass inspection without cat conv.
