I have just purchased a new house but before I move in I want to paint the garage floor and I was thinking of using U Coat It but have no experience with this product also I want to 'Clear Coat' my driveway, does anyone out there have recommendations or warnings that may save me from wasting money, I am obviously willing to pay for a 'Good' product as it is always worth paying more to get the best, also please note I live in AZ so the driveway WILL get baked.
Thanks
Gary

I don't know about the U Coat, but I would recommend to stay away from the Rustoleum Epoxy. I went the DIY route to save money, but now wish I had paid a professional to do it right when I built my garage. A friend of mine paid $1600 to have his garage floor done professionally, it was also a four-car garage, and his has held up so much better than mine. If you do go with a DIY product, and you are in AZ where its hot, a tip is that after you mix the catalyst, immerse the container 3/4 deep in a bucket of ice water. It will give you extra working time. I didn't know about that trick until after I did my floor and I wasted quite a lot of paint because it would harden in the pail before I could roll out an entire gallon. Good luck.
I wish I had done that six years ago.
You will find this hard to believe, but my Vette has a few leaks.
I just spent an hour cleaning the floor with a cleaner and a tooth brush. No, not mine, an old one.
The floor looks like crap.
Go to a paint store and see what the recommend for your driveway. It needs to be UV tolerant.

I used two-part epoxy of my floor about 10 years ago. It still looks good except a few spots that I spilt brake cleaner on. Those areas are a little dull but it is still there with no peeling.

I used Pittsburgh Paints Aquopon. It does get very slippery when it is wet or if you have snow on your shoes. With new concrete you have to acid wash the floor before you paint it.
My garage is only used for the Vette and my boat during the winter so the daily driver cars do not get parked there. I don't know how road salt woud effect it.

Gary,
I ahve heard good things about U Coat it. I wish I did it instead of the crappy epoxy I used.
I also heard that POR 15 now makes a garage floor coating.
Good luck,
Anthony
I plan to use "UCoat It" because that is what Mid America Motorworks uses one their floors and they look great. If your floor is old and somewhat smooth, like mine, be sure to rent something to roughen the surface - something that looks like a floor polisher but with an abrasive pad.
Hope this helps.

As with any type of "paint job" you need to do the prep work correctly. If the concrete is not preped to accept the coating, it will not stay put.
I did my floor myself with an epoxy. It has peeled anywhere water sat for long periods of time. Looking back, I wish I would have had a pro do it. The pros know what they are doing, they have lots of great kinds/styles/colors/flakes to choose from, and if it doesn't last, you have someone to go back to and say "hey, this didn't last the way it was supposed to, re do it or give me my money back".
