She's still in Tuxedo. I called the shop today and they haven't looked at it since LAST Tuesday when they looked at it for two hours, scratched their heads, scratched their asses and wandered off. At this point I'm calling the owner's son tomorrow (met him when the car was dropped off so that I could put the car inside since the windows won't work in addition to no start.) Going to ask him what is going on. If he doesn't know I'm going to get him to find out...if I get nothing I'm calling a friend of mine who found me a trailer that will fit the Vette(6'x12' it sounds tight) and take the car home. Park it in the garage, give it a very sad kiss goodbye, put up some mousetraps and go back to school.

Scot

I guess I should be asking what can be done to help the car be in as good a shape as possible in February 06 when I MIGHT have the money to drag her out of the garage onto a flatbed and take her to a shop?
Or
If anyone wants to work on my car for me at their leisure for lots less than a shop? I can't be friends with shop people...not sure why I just can't seem to make that happen. I don't like the way it works out...

First, that trailer sounds awfully small!
Second, make sure the shop isn't going to stick you with a daily storage bill.
If they can't figure out what is wrong with the car, you should make arrangements to get it home.
If you get it home and want to tinker with it, there's enough expertise her to talk you through some simple checks to at least find the problem. |thumb|

The problem with taking the car home...is that I don't live at home. Since I'm at school it makes things really tough.

Scot -

Hopefully you'll get somewhere after talking to Anthony (the owners son). If not, what about a tow to Andy in Queens? The towing would be a lot less since it's closer than MD and perhaps he'd be more dedicated to getting it fixed since you already purchased a part through him he has yet to install.

Just a thought...

As for towing/shipping, I found the information on the company I used to ship mine from MD to PA. They're called Intercity Lines, Inc. You can get to their website at http://www.intercitylines.com/ (notice the pretty Corvette in their main page picture - you may have to refresh the page a couple of times as the main picture changes each time).

They were incredibly nice, super reliable and the rates were very reasonable. Like I said, under $500 from MD to PA. At the time, my car didn't start either and they just winch it into the truck.

Hopefully you won't have to go that route, but if you do, instead of towing and taking on that task and risk, check these guys out.

Keep me posted! I'm back in NYC end of the week if you need a ride.

Well. Yesterday was fun! Loyal Towing & Auto Center, who's employees assured me the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend that I would be treated fairly and that my car would be fixed as soon as possible still had not looked at my car, since Tuesday after Memorial Day.

Andy from A.V.A. Performance in Long Island City, NY(near Queens) twas confident it wouldn't take him more than an hour to diagnose the problem (an hour seems less than two weeks if I'm asked) and provide an estimate. I called a few enclosed transport lines, and only one would provide an estimate for that short of a distance, the rest suggested using a local towing company. I used Loyal Towing & Auto to do the tow, $4.50/mile + $75 to load + tolls + tax should be less than the $667 from Intercity Lines Inc.

I talked to Andy today around 1pm and the Vette was there, apparently Loyal should drop the Auto from their name and stick to towing. I've been told to call sometime after noon on Monday and Andy will have an estimate for me. I knew ahead of time that Andy wouldn't have time for the car today, but he was willing to store it for the weekend inside. By yesterday I just wanted the Vette out of the bay at Loyal so they couldn't have any more fun with it.

Hopefully all will be right by next week.

Scot

Boatman posted a thread about a '71 coupe for 3500$...I coulda had my chrome bumper Vette. Its very frusturating to have spent "another sports car" money...AND STILL HAVE MY BABY IN THE SHOP!!! I know she'll be back on the road soon. The shop she's at definitely seems to know their stuff and want to treat me well. I can't wait for Monday. I GET TO SPEND MORE MONEY!!

More people need to fill in information in the mechanics directory.

Maybe Scot could have had an easier time with this if he could have known to avoid this mechanic.. (this means you should fill out a bad report on the first shop Scot)

If anyone has such a mishap in my area (Central or South Arkansas).. dont hesitate to call me.. I have a flat bed car hauler trailer and a come-along always at the ready (which is kinda sad really)...

Ben, I'm definitely posting in the Mech's Directory as soon as the car is finally resolved. The shop it is NOW at has replaced the starter, thank god for GM making quality parts or I might only be on my second starter since May 12. This makes four starters in two years ladies and gents and I am EVER SO PLEASED! At last word the starter was going in and then the diagnosis of the wiring problems was to begin! No word on exactly when the wiring problems will be figured out, but I can't have the vehicle before next Monday(not telling the shop that because I WANT it, just have a lot of projects that are due on Monday...a LOT)...Anyway, fingers crossed!

Scot |cheers|
