If I had a '73 with a BB, and I intended to hand it down to my son, I wouldn't worry about originality. I would personalize it to my taste with input from my son, depending on how old he was.

My 73 was not ever going to be put back to original when I bought it. That is one of reasons I did buy it, so I didn't feel any obligation to make it that way. Biud it to enjoy it and let the kids worry about the value later.
