Never thought about using the forums in this manner. Must say its AWESOME. I'll keep my eyes peeled, but it'll have to go quite a ways to get to me

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
Let's be truthful here...
I hate to say it but I see the outcome of this as narrowed down to 2 possible scenarios:
1) The person/people who stole it will take it for a joy ride. Trash it. Thrash it. Destroy it and leave it for dead, or bury it in a lake, river or pond somewhere. It will be totalled, and he will be looking for another vette this spring.
2) Whoever stole it is breaking it down into it's part as we speak. No one will see that car together as a single unit again. After all, knowing the cost of replacement parts, I'm willing to bet they're going to get more bang for their buck out of the parts than for the whole car.
Just my opinion. And I also never thought of using a forum for this type of search before either, but it seems like it could work.

Well, you guys are right, I probably won't see my Vette again... but what the heck it is worth the try to get it back.
Thanks for your support

My Vette Recovered today!!!
Talk about an early Christmas present!
Sketchy details at the moment, but here what I have as of now:
It was found in a carport in Kent.
Manager had called towing saying it didn't belong there.
Sat overnight in towing yard, they called us @ 10:30am
Went and picked it up... $198 for towing & storage.
Took a quick look around the Vette, see if it started... it did.
Drove it straight to my mechanics shop, "Walt's Automotive",
So they could inspect the Vette inside and out.
Here is what we found damaged so far.
When I drove it the 2 miles from towing to Walt's, engine sounded fine,
oil pressure normal, when making a left turn, tires scrape fender?
2 long scratches on the right front and rear fender.
Front bumper has aprox 20" long scrape.
Steering Colum damage, ignition damaged, left door panel damaged,
Left side carpet damaged.
Two emblems missing.
The air cleaner has been taken off.
I will know more on Monday when they check the engine, underneath and
a complete inspection inside and out.
We are not sure if this was a joyride or getting ready to strip?
So, there is some damage, all appear fixable.
Still great to have it back!
More details on Monday afternoon.

Congratulations on the return of your pride and joy! Didn't mean to sound so "glass half empty" before, but I think we all know there are certain realities we deal with as Vette owners who have them stolen.
I have not had that misfortune yet, nor do I wish anyone else to suffer through such an invasion, so it is with a glad heart that I offer you good wishes on the complete (and hopefully inexpensive) return to health of your loved one.
Merry Christmas to you and all members here! May the season of joy bring you another year of road tripping and Waving.

Recovering your Vette Jack will seem like the easy part, as now you have the undaunting task of dealing with the Insurance Company...keep us posted.
