Folks:

I am looking into buying a bumper car Vette.  I wanted to check the VIN on this.  I think it could be a LS6.  The VIN is 194370S403739.  Could anybody help me.

Thanks,

Rick

You can use the VIN decoder under "Tools" in the toolbar on this page.

Either way it won't help...it wasn't until '72 that the Corvette's VIN contained an engine code. The LS6 option wasn't available after the '71 model year. The LS5 was available after that.

Looks like you'll need the tank sticker or other documentation to verify the car.

Thanks Gunslinger,

The stamp on the block does match the VIN on the post, for whatever that might mean other than it being a numbers matching vehicle.

Thanks,

Rick

PS, I have always liked your trailer, especially in general a malcontent!!! Way to Go!!!

What is the 3-letter code in front of the VIN stamped on the front pad?  I believe the LS6 would be CPX, CPW (for 1971) or CZL, CZN (for 1970).

What was the last year for the LS6?I thought 71 72?but then again I'm basing this off of the Chevelle.

1971 was the last year for the LS6. After that it was the LS5 or the LS4, depending on year.

Was it an LS6?  Did you buy it?

I was doing a google search on Orange (don't ask...) and found this one for 20K.  Seemed a little bit odd; shouldn't the price be a little higher?

Yes, it is an LS6 and the guy will not sell it.  $20,000.00 for the one you found sounds cheap.  They were RARE and FAST!

I was thinking like Gurtz but ran across this site today. It appears that the LS6 Corvette is number 27 of the 50 fastest muscle cars. Now that surprised me.
