on mine its its directly in front of the rear body mount on drivers side..

There is a body mount in front of the rear wheel and one behind the rear wheel where the sway bar attaches. Which one are you refering too.

[/QUOTE]That would be the mount closest to the rear of the car, around the diff. crossmember area. You may have to move a fuel vapor line to see it , if your car has one. As far as the vin on the trans, most standards are on the vertical boss, where the tailhousing bolts on. Mine is on the driver's side, but I have seen them on either side,on the top, or on the bottom. Automatics are usually on the pass. side pan rail (TH350)toward the front. On TH400, usually on the driver side, on the pan rail toward the front, or it could also be stamped on the flange where the dust cover bolts on. The factory had guidelines on where to stamp these parts, but it wasn't ALWAYS adhered to. Some came through without any v.i.n. on the trans. Seek and ye shall find!
