NOTE: The audio contains language that some may find offensive.

Comments on the Youtube page supposedly have comments from both the Corvette driver and someone related to the driver of the Nissan. The driver claims "The carb spring broke off" which caused him to lose control. If you want to read those comments, click here to go to the Youtube page and then scroll down below the video to read the comments.

Need to read the comments.  His throttle return spring broke and stuck full open.

A broken throttle spring won't make the throttle go full open.  It will keep it from closing.  Plus GM started using dual throttle springs somewhere around this vintage.

Yeah. I would think that would be a horrible design flaw!

He was accelerating from a stop and his single return spring broke letting his foot push the throttle way down and of course would not return to idle.  My LT-1 doesn't have a dual spring.

I never said the spring caused it to go full open, it was the broken spring.  Should he have had the dual spring?  Yes, but hindsight is always 20/20.  I'll be investigating a dual spring for my car.  If I don't sell it first.
