Anthony,
I will try to locate my sticker by feeling around the top of my tank when I jack up the car. I'll remember to put on some goggles and I'll be careful not to tear the "old paper". I'll let you know if I have any luck finding my sticker. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight....It's like Christmas!
Thanks for your great help,

If you reach in on top of the tank and start feeling around, you will likely tear the sheet up unless you really take it easy. Without dropping the tank, you can stick a digital camera up in the gap between the body and the top of the tank and take a couple of pictures (one driver's side and one passenger's side) to locate it and then decide how you want to tackle getting it out. This will require that you remove the spare tire tub and upper spare tire lid but that is not that difficult.
This paper is so brittle after 30-40 years that if you handle it too rough it will literally disintegrate.
If you really want to get it off clean, drop the tank. Clymer's or Chilton's repair manuals give excellent step-by-step instructions on how to do that.
Good luck.
This morning, I took my vette to the shop and had it raised on a car lift. I felt and looked on both upper sides and top of my tank but found no sticker. I used a flex mirror and flashlight and was not able to see even a trace of a paper options sticker.

I guess dropping the tank will be a waste now because someone must have already removed it or it fell off. Thanks to all of you for your words of wisdom on what to do!!!

That's to bad. I found mine whenI took the body off. It had folded over which helped to protect most of it.
