A bunch of you have seen my Vette in person... so you know what it looks like.  For those of you that haven't...

Body is in good shape (no cracks) but it does need a paint job.  It also needs new carpet.  Seat foam/covers were replaced about 2 years ago and still look great. The car has 109,000 miles on it overall.  The engine was replaced with a GM Crate motor (350ci, 249hp) about 15,000 miles ago, at which time the transmission was rebuilt.  The A/C compressor was just replaced last weekend and was working well until the high pressure line busted this weekend in PF.  The carb was rebuilt in October of 2005.  I have both regular and glass tops for it, both sets had their rubber replaced professionally about 1 year ago.  If it matters, it has an aftermarket radio...AM/FM CD that plays CD-R/CD-RW and MP3 discs. Factory Clock doesn't work (surprise surprise).

Any ideas what I could get for this 79 Vette?

(Please don't turn this into a "don't sell your vette" thread).

Thanks!

I would concur with the $9000 high and $7000 low. I would say $10000 if the paint was nice.

ive seen 79's similar to your condition/mileage go for between 8-11k. id say sarge and tumarr are right in the ball park. id check some of the online listings on the vette sites like vettefinders.com, but not ebay. not a good judge of whats fair value. stevep31638894.6032291667

I'm inclined to agree. The high mileage is going to affect the price, and needing paint is a big deduct.
Still, I think more along the lines of $5000 low end, $9000 high end. That would be an average for this area, anyway.

If it didn't have the crate motor $5K, Since it does $6.5-7K. That would be the leverage angle that I would use for a selling point.
SInce you didn't say you were actually selling it I'm thinking proactive and will assume you are traing it on a newer shark.
That be the case I would shoot for the $7.5-8K range.

ULTIMATELY, YOUR CAR IS WORTH WHAT SOMEONE IS WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. YOU NEED TO FIND THAT SPECIAL PERSON THAT DEVELOPS A CONNECTION WITH THIS CAR, PRICE THEN HAS NO BOUNDARIES. GOOD LUCK.
