Vette(s): 1981 - 59 Beige over Cinnebar leather. Edlebrock top end, 2200 stall w/shift kit, 3:55s, Mufflex maniback exhaust, nice stereo, 16 in AREs w/BFGs
Im inclined NOT to do this, I just wanted some thoughts..
My 67 ragtop, needs paint but ready for it, perfect new interior.  Motor is a 70 Vette LT1 w/a M-21.  Mechanically top to bottom, front to back is done.  After paint the car will be amazing.    I was pitched a 69 427/400 ragtop 4 speed, numbers match (all of em), new 6k paint, nice orig interior, orange/saddle a solid #2 car.

Dollar wise im thinking this is an even up deal, I have my 81.  I am SO on the fence.  I know the car (its my buddies Dad's) he wants to make a 427/435 clone out of the 67, he has the motor.

Thoughts?

Vette(s): 1975 Stingray Nomad Wagon, with Daytona front, custom hood scoop, dual side vents; 420HP 350; Doug Nash 5 speed; 1980 rear end W/4:11 gears; Cherry Red metallic paint.
Personally, i wouldnt do it.   I dont know how you would end up financially in the long run, but i would keep the C2.  Just my opinion.

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
I agree with Dave. I wouldn't do it either. You have the most sought after year of any of the vettes. Unless this trend changes, the 69 with matching numbers will never be worth what the 67 vert is, even though it's not matching numbers.

Vette(s):
SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe
As much as I love "The Toy" when I was looking for a Vette I first looked for a '61 or '62.  WAY TOO pricey for my budget so I looked at the C2 years.  Still too pricey for my budget so I "settled" on a C3 I could afford at the time.

So where am I going with this?  I have to agree with the others above - keep the '67.  The sentimental value of the car and the dollar value of the car (both because of the work you have put into it) will never be equalled by the '69.

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
The 69 certainly sounds very nice, but I like Joel's idea.

The April edition of Corvette Magazine has their C2 Buyer's Guide, and June has the C3 version.  A "show-ready" 67 'Vert lists an approx value at $110,000.  "Good" is $75K.  Add for extras like knock offs (even reproductions), a/c, and OE side exhaust.  Based on what you've said, ("car will be a solid #2"), you're looking probably at least at the "good" rating if not a little higher.

The 69 rates at $53K for "Show Ready" and $35K for "Good."  Add $13K (per the buyer's guide) for the original numbers matching 427/400 and you're still only at $68,000 at best.

If you're more interested in the '69 than the '67, clearly that's a personal choice and yours to make, but don't take an even trade.  You'd be losing value.  I must agree, the '67 is probably one of the most saught after years for most people, but what you want and like will always be more impotant than what anyone else says.

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Im gonna keep the 67, I just made an appt at the painter.  BTW, I've never seen a SB 67 go for over 100k.  I'll be rolling the 67 in for paint on 8/10.  Lyndale blue, next stop..  Im going to have the orig hood and a BB stinger hood painted (white stinger).  Im toying with selling the LT1 and dropping in a crate BB.  The car was converted to 4 way Wilwoods and stops on a dime and gives change..KeBo2007-06-06 11:44:21

I really don't need to repeat what everyone else said above.  I would never trade that C2 for the '69, no matter how nice that '69 is, it will not equal the value of that C2.
