i love corvettes that goes without saying. for awhile i been bothered by the new ones.
since i can remember, i always loved corvettes and knew someday i would have one. through all these years, it was always that other cars were trying to copy the corvette (appearance). there was always that mystique they had with the hidden headlights and there designs. i think gm knew this, as that's why they only made significant changes a few times since they were being made.
over the last couple years, i feel they are taking the corvette out of the corvette with the styling of them and trying to copy some europen cars. for example, hidden headlights were on corvettes since 1963 and became what i call a trademark. it added that something to the car. now they are gone.
if gm was smart, they should have done what ford did with the mustang (of course it would have been better to do it first). when ford started reproducing the mustang they changed the design and it never even looked like one. then a couple years ago they took almost the original design of the car and brought it back, an updated version, you can say. i see more mustangs on the road in the last couple years than i have in a long time.
can you imagine if gm did that with the corvette. if they took the styling from 63-67 or the c3 class and updated it with all the new technology they have and are putting in the new ones, i can only imagine the corvette frenzy that would happen (again).
i myself, would love to see them do that and i would probably go bananas until i got one. anyone else feel this way or am i someone who just can't let go of the past?

Like Dave I am very passionate bout the Corvette and it's rich heritage. I like the ever changing performance driven aspects of this AMERICAN ICON.
From the C1 to the C6 there are huge changes that have taken place as the car contiues to evolve. Interestingly if you look at the GM concept corvettes you can see the future taking place. This was very apparent in the mid 70's early 80's of what a sneak peak of the C4 would look like.
Each of the C series cars carry their own mystic marvels and wonderment. Part of that is why people love this car and it is the bright spot in GM sales.
Today's Z06 is a fine representation of a New American Muscle Car that is affordable in comparison to the euopean performance cars. I hope that GM will use this car to be a building block for the future and continue to fuel my passion just as the previous cars they have designed and given the Corvette Logo.

I too am a huge fan of the retro look. Ford hit a homerun with the Mustang and it is a success in all age demographics. If Daimler Chrysler follows through with the new Challenger, I predict it too will be a great success. I would love to see a retro Vette.

I would love to see a new version of a C-3 out there,I've also been waitin for the General to come out with a new 57 Chevy.Ford hit the nail on the head with the new Stang,Cool ,I am diffenitely not a Ford fan,but that is a sharp lookin car
.I Don't like the looks of the C6s,I call them,F.A. Vettes [Fat A s s ]I will agree they are fast, but they aint Pretty like our C3s

Saw a '62 with an LS1 motor and 5-speed and new suspension. Very nice style and modern drive train. The best of both worlds.
It could be done.
Of course, we have all seen the '53 body on a '03 chassis.
Not sure that would be a big seller.
What year would sell best? '62, '63, '67, '68, '73, ???

would love to see a 63 split window fastback, a 67, or a 73. but then
again i wouldn't hesitate to donate my 75 and have them do all the mods
to that,sort a like a prototype.

Vette(s): #1 -1969 Corvette Coupe Riverside Gold, black interior,MN,A/C,350/350,PS,PB,window cranks.
#2 -2000 C5, black/black, 6 sp, Bose system & lots of buttons.
I'm am very Old School when it comes to Vettes. Yes, I have and drive a C5, but my heart is with my C3. For a long time I didn't like the C6 because of the "open headlights." I'm a big fan of the hidden pop-up headlights. But, ya know, the C6 is growin' on me......MHO......a vette is a vette is a vette.........
