BTW ya'll she took the keys to the 74 away from me... She said its hers and if I have the keys i'll probaly have the motor out by the time she gets back.

Well, then she shouldn't be too surprised if you just happen to have an extra motor hanging around when she gets back. Just have to figure out how to tell her it's sitting in a black '79.

I was trying to talk her into letting me put a LT1 out of a wrecked 94 T/A I have sitting around. She just stared at me and said "Don't even think about it!"

I agree with Reid on the Astro top. it will leak and doesn't seal well above the windows. It also tends to scratch easily. It has advantages though in design, storablity (inside the car)headroom and view.
I have both the Astro top and the fiberglass T's and use the Astro the most because my Stingray hardly gets driven in the rain. An that the good, the bad, and the ugly!

Thx for the info Reid.... yeah I've heard bad bad things about them 1 peice tops. Plus I don't like glass tops of any kind... It either painted Tops or vert for me.
Before you tear into the brakes, evacuate as much of the fluid from the master cylinder and bleed the system to see if they come back up and operate effectively. Could be mushy from sitting too long. If you have to rebuild system, I would recommend you send the calipers out to a vette brake rebuilder. I'm sure some of our fellow C3 contingent will know of brake re-building companies, if not, there are some listed on the National Corvette Restorers Society website. Had mine done in '82 by Vette Brakes (I think now defunct) but sent them out and got same ones back as available by request. Converted the system to silicone fluid and they work better than when I bought the car in '80. It's not a hard job to re-do the system if you don't have to remove brake lines. I used a master cylinder pressure bleeding system to bleed mine. Made it a lot easier. I am pretty much a novice at doing this kind of work, but was successful in getting the binders to stop the car.

Well ya'll, Its time for an update. I'm the proud owner of a 1979 L82/auto blk on blk. Its in better shape than i thought. The interior is almost perfect. The paint is ok,not to many chips or spidering. Its the orig almost 30 year old paint. Never hit body.I'm the 3rd own and i talked them down to 4k. I got the books and even the window sticker.Thats what I love about GA... Old low mileage cars just siting like diamonds in the rough. The guy i got the vette from also has a all orig 73 super cheyanne 454/t400. He only wants 2000 for it. I'm head back to his house tues with the wrecker and bring it home too. Today was a good day
