...when working on your vette? I just figured out mine. I removed the old gas tank a month ago. Greg was making a dump run later that weekend, so I pulled the fuel sender out & sent the tank off with him. It was not the original tank. Here I am tonight, I've got my spiffy cool copy of my build sheet, laminated and double foam taped to the gas tank. And I'm looking high and low for the filler neck which I thought came with the new tank.
Nope. It doesn't. Of course the old one is now long since bulldozed over at the dump.
So, it'll be Tues before I can get a new one $68 from Zip.
I'm such an idiot!
Oh well, it's only money right?
Guess I'll install my rear suspension tomorrow instead of the gas tank.

Vette(s): This Corvette has been totally restored. Everything from the radiator to the aluminumized exhaust tips has either been rebuilt or replaced w/425+ horsepower. It has 500 miles since restoration and modifications have been completed.

Jack, Well, if that's the case there's no hope for us. We didn't lear from our first mistake, our second mistake or our third mistake.

I think the dumbest thimg I have done was back in 1976 when I left my '74 alone in a parking lot for about three hours and someone stole it. The second dumbest thing I did was to by a 30 year old Corvette and not have a garage to put it in to work on it. Well, maybe those two things could be reversed cause we do a lot of dumb things as kids.

I think the list would be endless of dumb things I have done while working on my Vette. So many that it seems normal to me and I can't even think of anything at the moment. I guess when I tried to pry my trans pan off while installing the shift kit would be the dumbest. I barely touched it and the thing just fell right off and fluid went all over me and the floor.

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
I can't really remember the dumbest, cause there is so many. But the Smartest thing was to retire last December. It is really great!!!!!!!!

Glen,
You my friend are absolutely gonna kill me with that retirement line. I have just under 18 months to go ( sooner if I can get an early out ). PLEASE just keep on making my mouth water and my retirement will be just that much sweeter when I get to it.

Glenn and Scot,
I am sorry to rub it in, but you will never know how great it is to get a check in the mail every month just for doing absolutely nothing. The bad part is that I never have a holiday, or vacation day anymore. HEHE! I worked in that god forsaken place for 41 + years, and what a relief. I promise to try to quit talking about it though. I know it probably rubs some people the wrong way. Sorry.
Hey, If I ever get up to Md or Pa I'll try to find you guys. Most of the time, I go south to Jackson, Ms. My son lives down there. I really like Ms. There is a lake about 1 mile from his house, that I would like to drown a bunch of worms in. That lake is big. I think the dam is about 4 to 41/2 miles long, and the lake goes about 25 miles north from that.
Talk to you guys later,
Glen

Glen, doesn't bother me in the least, I know I'm in for the long haul, started my first major related job last week. I'll be where you are in 50 years, maybe a few more, but I'll have my Vette to drive thru life with, I'll be ok....just as soon as I get the darn thing running!!!!
