Wheel Well Liner Adjustment on a 1972 Coupe

I have 4 225/70/15 tires on my 1972 coupe. The rear tires are new BF Goodrich TA's and the front are older Eagle GT II's with about 5/32 tread remaining. The back of the left front tire rubs one of the bolt heads on the rear of the wheel well liner when turned full lock to the left. I took the bolt out today and ground down the head and polished it. There is plenty of clearance now and a new tire shouldn't rub the bolt head. The passenger tire has a different issue. When turning full lock to the right the rear tire rubs the back of the inner wheel well liner. This only happens on full turns to the right and I am not sure if I put new tires on if anything would get damaged. I looked underneath the car and saw that the rear liner has two bolts securing it to a piece of metal secured I believe the rocker panel. Does anyone know if the wheel well liner can be adjusted so that I can move it back 1/4 - 1/2". Otherwise maybe I will just replace the front tires with 215/70/15 BF Goodrich TA's. Thank you.

Michael - sorry but I've never heard of any front wheel well adjustment. I've heard of tires rubbing on the frame as you described, mine does it a bit on the drivers side when I make a full lock left hand turn, those two frame bolts are rather polished. Personally, I would have someone check out your pass. side front suspension for worn components. Can't say I've ever seen a C3 rubbing the inner fender as you've described. Going to a smaller size front tire may seem to work, but it may also be masking a problem.

Thank you for the reply John. I had the car at a spring place check out the suspension and they said everything was good. Maybe I will just get slightly smaller tires for the front.

I have 235/60 15's on my 72.  I also have the "polished" frame bolt heads from tire rub, but I haven't heard of tires rubbing on the wheel well liner.

 The nature of the beast on these cars is that no two are alike.....ever. A tire that rubs on one won't on another. Body fit is hit or miss at best.
The inner wheel wells are part of the body, and bonded on. There are no adjustments other than those you make with a saw....Dead

Thanks for the reply. The car came with 225/70/15 tires on it so the rub probably isn't bad. I only hear it occasionally when turning hard to the right when driving slow. My tires in the front have 5-6/32 tread remaining and I wanted to replace them to match my new rear BF Goodrich Radial TA's. I am not sure if I should just go down a size to 215/70/15 or put the same size tire on and see how it fits. It's possible the BF Goodrich Radial TA might fit slightly different from the Eagle GT II that they will replace.

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.
  You can check the bumper blocks on the "A" frame. They may be battered from bumping them when turning the wheel to lock. Welding a small piece of metal on the block will stop the wheel from going as far, and stop the rub.

Does anyone have a picture of the bumper blocks? I am not sure what it even looks like.

It has been a while since I looked at mine but I believe there is a small metal tab welded on
the lower a-arm that the spindle will hit to prevent further turning. You probably need to
remove the wheel and tire see this clearly.
