Is there a spot where I could run my VIN and from the sequence number be able to find out roughly what day and month my Corvette was produced?

thanks, Jim

Jim,

Your trim tag (left door jamb) will have a letter with 1 or 2 numbers in the upper right side.  That is the day your body was assembled & painted.

The letters start with A for August 1973, the number is the day of the month........J14 = May 14, 1974.

Depending on weekends & holidays, the cars final build date would usually be the next day.

My trim tag is F23 (January 23, 1968) & my final build date was the 24th.

What is your VIN?

Anthony

So I am guessing it makes mine built Jan 11th, finished on the 14th of 1974 since the 11th was a friday?

oh geez, a "friday car"

416 = Medium Saddle Leather
68L = Dark Brown Metallic
F = Jan. '74
11 = 11th day of Jan

The final build date could be two-three days later, depending on week-ends/holidays. The trim tag was installed after the body paint, but before final assembly. If there was a problem with the paint, or there was body damage on the assembly line, it would take even more time.
My car has a build date of June 27th, '74. There was a strike at the assembly plant starting either late in the day on June 27th, or first thing on the 28th. My car sat on the assembly line for almost a two months before final assembly. I have parts on my car dated July and August.
The normally accepted build date is what's on the tag.
The last VIN produced on Jan. 11 1974 was 14050, so your car would have been done on the same day.

  When was the Strike in 69? I think it was Late in Production and affected the 70's More.  I have a March 21 Body with a June Block. There's a lot of Wishfull Thinking going on Here. Richard...

Strike of '69 started April 10th, and lasted until June 5th/6th. This is why Delorean made the '69 model run longer...to make up for the loss of production. The side effect of that was the low '70 model production.

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
Mine's got an "H15" code, so it looks like that translates to March 15th, 1974.  VIN is 1Z67T4S421006.  Sound right?  Damn, another Friday car!

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Lucky you...your car was actually finished late Monday, March 18th.
Last VIN produced Friday, 15th was 20,146. Last VIN produced Monday, 18th was 21,035.
