Vette(s): 1970 COUPE - LS5 454 - AUTO - A/C,PS,PB,TILT. WHITE WITH RED INT. PRISTINE - LIKE THE DAY IT WAS BORN. (Previously owned a White '76. Sold it in 2000.)
Well I fixed the vacuum lines yesterday and today one of my actuators failed. Only one headlight came up and I found some rubber bladder pieces next to the one that failed. I guess the new surge of vacuum tore it up.
The restoration guide lists Caledonia Classics as a company that rebuilds these. I can't find them on the internet. If anyone knows of a shop that rebuilds these, please let me know.
Or would it better to just buy one at Ecklers, etc.
Also, are the actuators difficult to remove/replace?
Thanks,
Kevin

I was at a Corvette show earlier this year and met a guy named Dave Resheske that does just that. He restores wiper and headlight vacuum actuators, carbs, distributors, and 4 speed trans. His prices looked pretty good. He is in Clear Lake City, Texas. His business is called "Dave's Corvette Restoration" email is; resheske@orbitworld.net Phone #; 281-488-7813. In his catalog he says feel free to call anytime between 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM CST, but don't call collect!
I understand that he will restore your original actuator, or sell you rebuilt ones.
Hope this help!

The price is 160.00 to restore and 125 to replace.
When you have it restored they disassemble the actuator replate all metal parts to the "correct" color which is cadmium. and replace diaphragm, seals, shaft and dust boot

Thanks for all the information. The only question I have is there any problems, pit falls, or tips on removing and replacing the actuator or does it just unbolt with the 4 bolts?
Thanks for your help.
Kevin
