I'm researching classic car insurance companies and would like to hear your opinions on which I should go with and why.

Thanks!

I have both of mine with Heacoc k. Didn't start out that way, but the guy I originally had sold his classic insurance biz to Heacoc k
So far, so good. Stated value on both, but limited on miles per year, which is not a real problem for me, since i never get to drive either one anyway...

American Collector's Insurance Company, I pay $201 a year for $25k coverage.  Got be kept in locked garage, no one under 25 drivin' it, and 5k miles a year (can be extended at your request at no extra cost for long trips) and I've never come close to 5k miles in a year, not in this wet arse state.

Played with a couple of the standard companies (Hagerty, etc).  Most put limits on the annual driving.  Garage and driving age are pretty standard.

I settled on Farmer's (same as my other rides).  Only about $200 / year for unlimited mileage and agreed value of $30K.  Hard to beat, even with a stick.  Methinks they sub to another company that specializes in collector cars.

Check with your regular company, especially if you've been with them for awhile.  Might have a deal for collector cars.

Vette(s): White '79 Corvette. It's a driver.

I have been using State Farm on all my vehicles for years. When I wanted to insure the Vette I stuck with them.

8kmi per year (Man, I'd love to do that some year!)

Agreed upon value of $12,500 on my '79 "driver".

When we bought "BIGBRRD" I did check with my regular agent (American Family) and found a stated value collector policy with no mileage restriction and the rate was comparable to the specialtiy companies.  This spring I'll be getting all three cars reappraised and will convert "The Toy" and "The Beast" (now that it is 20 years old) to collector policies.

Check with the NCM on their insurance program.  They advertise that they can save you some money but I cannot vouch for that.

Hagerty here and thankfully no claims since Ive had them but like the price and coverage and agreed value.  There was a stated limit on driving but they never asked for my odometer reading so I really dont think they look at that.

JC Tayler, no limit agreed value and cheaper than Hagerty.

I've got 4 cars, life and home insurance all with State Farm.   They gave me a good package deal with the Vette having full coverage and limitations of 7500 miles/yr, locked garage and $15,000 agreed value, all for $145./yr.  Been with them for over 40 years and never had any problems.  Thumbs Up

Vette(s): Gone, but not forgotten: 1974 Coupe Red, matching numbers, Black Interior, L-48 w/ 4 speed; The “Admiral”, also gone and never to be forgotten. 1994 Admiral Blue LT-1 coupe, Black Interior Automatic

Like Larry, all of my insurance is with State Farm. The C3 carries exactly the same coverage as the daily drivers ($200 deductable with full liability etc.) with unlimited miles for $122 / year. The rate is reduced because the car is registerd as a collector car with collector plates. In MN there are no mileage restrictions on a car registered with collector plates. To aquire collector plate you have show you have another vehicle registered in your name for daily use.  According to my insurance man, the designates the '74 as a "hobby" car that is used for pleasure only. use. Hence the reduced rate.  Before purchasing collector car insurance, I would check with my regular carrier to see what they have to offer.

My 2 cents worth...
