I did not, but a friend of mine bought an '81 on ebay about a year ago. He got the price he was wanting to pay, and the Vette was in solid shape. The seller was in Dallas, and my friend flew up there to pick it up and drove it for 5 hours back to Houston with no problems. After about a week, he let his girlfriend take it for a drive, and she slammed into a light pole, claiming the brakes did not work. They worked well before, and after, so they are no longer a together as a couple. Fortunately, the frame was OK, and a new front clip and hood was installed. (No brake work needed!) He now has it back on the road, and has a strict rule about girlfriends driving it!
I did! I think I got a fantastic deal too, I got a dark blue 1980 L-82 with new paint, interior, AC, brakes, u-joints, weatherstripping and a Sony 10 disc CD player with a Kenwood amp, all for $4,500! It runs great, turns heads everywhere I go and I've been offered $9,500 for it...

We bought our 74 coupe on eBay. I am in Missori and it was in Fla. The car was pretty much as they stated. It wasn't as good as I hoped it would be but we weren't disapointed. They said the paint was faded but didn't look too bad in pics. turned out it was wet when they took the pics. I only paid 2800. Heck I could part it out(god forbid) and come out ahead and have been offered 4500 sight unseen. Be sure to check the feedback of the seller and email or call them to clarify any questions before bidding. I will admit it is scary spending that much money with only pics and the word of someone u don't know. I have boughten numerous items on eBay and have yet to have anything less than a perfect expierence. Print and keep all emails to and from the seller along with the eBay listing. That way u have everything they said in print and if it is not as they stated you are not obligated to complete the purchase (to a point) the legal issues are in print on eBay. Hope this helps

Oh, don't get me wrong, I was scared to death about buying a car just from pictures, let alone a car for $4,500. I've never spent more than $1,500 or so for a car and I'd already decided that if it wasn't as described, I was turning around and going back home. Fortunately, it was only about a 5 hour drive from home and part of the deal was a $200 Pontiac that we drove down there and left...You might try just making the seller an offer, that's what I did. He'd ran 2 auctions that the winning bidders never followed through on and his ad stated that he was fed up with eBay, so I made him the offer and was surprised he took it. Both auctions ended at over $6,000...

I bought both my '78 and '69 on Ebay. Both were positive experiences. I flew to Indianapolis to pick up the '78 and drove it home (to Maryland). The long drive showed up a few minor problems that were easily taken care of, but the car was as advertised and I've been pleased since. My '69 was delivered by an enclosed trailer (and wrapped in plastic inside the trailer) and was even better than I expected.
I think the secret to Ebay buying and selling is being completely honest about condition...both good and bad aspects, and asking and answering questions. An honest seller shouldn't be evasive about answering questions. That would be a red flag.

I purchased my 75 roadster on ebay and it was even better than I thought. A bit scary to wire 15 grand sight unseen. The 75 is a NCRS top flight show car and the 850 mile drive home went flawlessly.

Vette(s): 1976 Brown with Buckskin Interior. I bought her on 9/15/03 and just received it on OCT 1st 2003!! It needs interior work, and some things under the hood, but I am so excited! Just waiting for Summer of 2004 to totally show it off.
I used E-bay to see what was available for the money I wanted to spend. I had alot of fun looking at them on-line. Then I all of a sudden became very lucky. It was there a vet that I could afford. I bought mine off on E-bay and the people couldn't have been nicer!
ps I also just bought a motorcycle off of Ebay too - I can't wait till SUMMER!!!

Bought mine on eBay. Had been looking for the "right" car for many years. This one was brokered by e-motorclassics. Was a pleasant experience. Put a small amount down and the agreement was if the car was not as represented - I could walk away. The car was better than expected (two time NCRS winner). Drove from IL to NJ to pick it up - trailered it home. Car was the C3OTW last week if you care to look.

I bought my 68" roadster on ebay and I'm real happy with it. I got a great price and shipping was only about $500. I had it shipped by a company that was local and not the ebay add which was about 50% more. They sent it on a flat 3 car hauler so it was quick and other cars weren't dripping or beating on it. I shopped on ebay and collector car for about 6 mos and saw many nice ones. Since I am 68" lunatic and was replacing one that I had to sacrifice ten years ago when I was broke $$$. There are many on ebay that get in these type situations. I would be very careful when spending the big bucks because you have so much more at risk. Mine is very sweet though and I only spent about 16K. It is not 100% restored but has rebuilt engine, tranny, suspension, paint, top and interior except for a few minor details. It is a killer-driver vet and it was just as the pictures showed and the seller and I spoke a few times before I even bid. I waited till about 2 min left in auction and hit it hard. I out bid the other person by a dollar when she ran out of time. It was way cool.
