Well I was hoping to post pics of my car done by now. She's painted and just needs rubbing out. paint looks awesome. I been putting her back together and almost done. They wanted to replace the windshield after the paint job, and you guessed it. The frame is solid rust. They tell me it can be repaired, however much more time before she's on the road. I sure wish we would have done this before paint. Hopefully I'll be able to drive her before winter sets in. Been very busy at work so I'm sorry I haven't been online much lately. I miss you guy's. Terry

Terry;

That sux!Dead

I know how you feel, sorta...  I called my painter tonight, supposed to get the car tomorrow nite which is fine however, I'm leaving for a week and a half on this THURSDAY to help a buddy of mine haul hay so I only get to drive her for about an hour.  Good thing I'm PADI certified (NOT).

Anyway, when I called he didn't answer and called me back about an hour later.  He said we have a small problem...or two...  First, the door handle outside on the drivers side broke, now mind you, I just replaced the PASSENGER side before she went in to paint, IN FEB of this year.  With all the d@mned rain and humidity, she's just now about ready.  He wants to wash her and put another coat of Zaino on her before I get her tomorrow.  Oh yeah, the other issue, seems we have some pinholes on both fenders that didn't appear till about 2 weeks after clearcoat went on.

The nice thing is I get to keep her till after Eureka Springs weekend, but she will go BACK IN for paint in October to have the fenders sanded and reshot.

So yeah, man, I do feel your pain.  Hope they get yours fixed and don't find anything else.

Terry, I hope you get everything fixed!!!

What is this, Corvette Bad Luck Week???  I have been experiencing some stumbling and loss of power (the car, not me) and could not figure out what it was.  When the car got good and hot, the stumbling would stop and the car would smooth out. I went to an engine building pro and he tuned on the carb and timing, checked all the vacuum components and when he was done it was still doing it.  We came to the same conclusion.  There was probably an intake leak in the lifter valley.  Well, last night I drained the coolant, removed the carb, removed the distributor, unhooked the wires, removed the water neck and heater hose, took the intake off and behold, there was a film of oil up past the gasket seal ring on the bottom of the right rear intake ports.  I originally installed the Fel Pro 1205's which are .60 thick.  My engine building buddy had me order a set of 1245's which are .120 thick and should seal perfectly.  It appears that the Weiand intake is not machined perfectly.  Go figure.  The Weiand that I installed on the wife' Camaro in 1999 is still sealed perfectly.  Another recommendation was to run a very small bead of silcone around the bottom half of all the intake ports.

OK everyone, lets beat this jinx.

Thanks guy's. I knew you would understand having been there yourself. I thought I would at least post pic of where I am now. They are still setting deadline for July 9. Still much to do, but it will be worth it. She sure is RED, ain't she.

There's bout adout it,she definitely is red, but look at the bright side once all the major work is complete, it won't come back to haunt you later on. I know it ain't easy but be patient you will be happier in the long run. Good luck Thumbs%20Up

Your car is looking good.   Hopefully everything will come around.  I keep hoping it will for me too.  But for now my saga continues.  I replaced the intake gaskets and used a small bead of Permatex "Right Stuff" to provide a leak proof seal.  It appears that when I installed the manifold the first time there is just enough wiggle room in the bolt holes in the manifold to allow it to be installed slightly corkeyed and it left the bottom of the right side unsealed and allowed oil and air to be sucked in to the intake runner.  On Friday evening I put it back together and after I started it, the cylinders still seemed to be laying down.  I ran a compression test and all cylinders were between 140 and 150.  I then hooked the coil back up and tried to start it and there was no spark at all.  I checked for voltage at the coil and I had a full 12 volts.  At the time, I thought it was the coil or the Pertronix module in the distributor.  I ran a check on the coil and the ohms were within range.  I removed the distributor, replaced the module with a spare that I had,  installed the distributor, and fired up the car.  It ran for  about 15 seconds or so.  I shut it off so I could put the timing light on it and reset the timing.  Hooked up the timing light and had the wife start the car.  I reset the timing, tightened the distributor and told the wife to start it again.  No spark.  It was dead again. Apparently there is a short in the coil and it burned out the second module.  CRAP!!!  On Saturday I ordered a new HEI distributor with a tach drive ($300.00).  I know that an HEI system is the only way to go and I should have done that in the first place.  I will put the original distributor in a box and use the coil for a door stop.
